We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Expertise – We examined different Charlotte law firms and made sure that each has adequate knowledge and skills when it comes to immigration matters.

Track Record – Lawyers and firms who have proved repeatedly that reaching out to them for advice and/or representation is time and money well spent will always have a special place in our books.

Language Accessibility – We believe that the USA’s biggest strength is its people, no matter where they came from or the language they speak. Thus, we appreciate lawyers who can give advice in languages other than English.

Customer Service – Like any other business, immigration law firms worthy of clients’ time should have great communication, timely procedures, and overall just a top-notch level of service.

Lawyers are quite an enormous bunch. There are powerhouses for criminal defense, while there are some who are the best at negotiating contracts.

And if you’re in the same boat as some of my buddies, like Ivan, who needed to finalize his work visa, or Regina, who had to get her green card, you’ll definitely need an expert lawyer.

We talked to the people around the city, digging deep to help you dive into the world of the best immigration lawyers in Charlotte to guide you through dizzying documents at ICE on Tyvola Road or represent you in court if needed. Read on!

What is the average cost of an immigration law consultation in Charlotte, NC?

CILF is a law firm focused entirely on immigration law and nationality matters. Founded by attorney Alex Muntean back in 2009, it’s clear that this team had plenty of time to master the field.

We like that clients can expect strong expertise and personalized action here. It has skilled lawyers who can help you file paperwork, handle visa and deportation issues, or secure a green card, either in a one-time engagement or a retainer service.

Another major plus is that the firm is bilingual, supporting both English and Spanish speakers. It makes the legal process a lot easier for folks facing language barriers.

If there’s one drawback, it might be the pricing. While the $25 deposit for a consultation seems fair, the $150 minimum consultation fee could be steep for some.

However, if budget isn’t a concern, we think CILF stands out for its experience and responsiveness.

Pros

  • Decades in business
  • Vast immigration law expertise
  • Speaks English and Spanish

Cons

  • Standard fees, but pricey for some

Genuinely cared and knew the system inside and out

“I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, Alex and his team were incredibly professional, communicative, and supportive throughout my entire immigration journey. What initially felt overwhelming became completely manageable thanks to his clear guidance, quick responses, and genuine care.

Thanks to Alex’s efficiency and expertise, my naturalization process was completed in just 2 months, and in 2025, no less!! That kind of turnaround speaks volumes about how on top of everything he is.

He took the time to explain each step, answered all of my questions thoroughly, and made sure I felt confident and prepared throughout. I truly felt like I had someone in my corner who not only knew the system inside and out, but genuinely cared about my outcome.

If you’re looking for someone who is not only highly competent but also kind and responsive, I can’t recommend Alex enough. I’m incredibly grateful for his help and feel lucky to have worked with him!”

Was with us every step of the way, even before our relocation

“Alex did a good job managing our questions. He was with us each step of the way, beginning long before we relocated to the US. He stayed on top of changing forms and processes, and was always available to answer emails and hop on the phone when questions came up. We are pleased and will use this firm for the final stage in the process, when converting to a non restricted green card and ideally also when applying for citizenship.”

This firm is one of the youngest ones on our list, only opening its doors in 2020. Even so, we already find it one of the more impressive picks for its clear advocacy of helping immigrants in need.

OlaBlu’s founder, Edgar Jimenez, Esq., is a first-generation immigrant, so he has a deeper understanding of what his clients are facing. That might be why he believes legal work should feel personal instead of just procedural.

You’d think that kind of attention to detail would come with a pretty hefty price tag. In reality, a consultation here costs a “whopping” 50 dollars, which we find more than reasonable.

Aside from immigration law, this firm also focuses on personal injury (like for assault) and workers’ compensation, both issues that often matter to immigrants trying to get by.

Lastly, don’t let its local commercial center location fool you, because we actually find it fitting and even charming.

Pros

  • Immigrant founder/lawyer
  • Personalized approach
  • Affordable consultation fee
  • Personal injury and Worker’s Comp services

Cons

  • A relatively young firm

Bilingual, honest, and won’t overcharge you

“Very good attorney — Edgar really knows his stuff. The entire staff is responsive, compassionate, and professional. If you’re looking for a lawyer who’s honest and won’t overcharge you, this is the place to go. Their consultation fee is only $50, and like Edgar explained to me, he’ll know right away if he can help or not. Other places charge $200+ just to tell you they can’t take your case, but here you get real answers and real help. Everyone in the office is bilingual too, which was a huge blessing. I honestly wish I would’ve found them sooner. Because the other attorney we had was not a fraction as knowledgeable. Lydia and Maritza in the office are great.”

– Anton Selier, Google Review

Highly-recommended guidance for US residency

“Amazing service, he answered every question we had and he’s made our journey so much easier. He also loves helping people and will give you an honest answer. Thanks to his Guidance my wife has become a US Resident! I highly recommend.”

If the current political climate has you half-joking about heading north for poutine and maple syrup, reaching out to Adriana Urtubey, Esq. at AU Law might be a logical next step. She opened her private practice here in North Carolina in 2022.

Her several years working in the Canadian legal field mean she’s fluent in French on top of her native English and Spanish, which is an impressive language triple threat for immigration work.

Meeting with her feels both thrilling and genuinely enlightening. She explains complex ideas in a way that’s easy to digest, and she stays patient and understanding when clients have a lot of questions.

She also expects clients to stay involved and active in their own cases, which we actually appreciate, even if it can feel a bit demanding. What makes us pause for a bit, though, is her pricing ($250 for a 30-minute call).

We’d honestly just recommend meeting her in person in that case.

Pros

  • US and Canadian law expertise
  • Trilingual advise
  • Professional and clear communication
  • Pushes clients to be active

Cons

  • Private practice under 5 years
  • Steep pricing

Helped me and my family greatly in our immigration cases

“ La abogada Adriana me ha ayudado mucho en mi caso de inmigración al igual que el de mi familia. Es una persona súper profesional y responsable. Tiene una excelente comunicación con nosotros ya que en cada paso ella nos da las instrucciones adecuadas y siempre le da seguimiento a las cosas pendientes. La recomiendo altamente. Y se que el mismo trato que nos ha brindado se los brindará a ustedes.

(Attorney Adriana has helped me greatly with my immigration case, as well as my family’s. She is extremely professional and responsible. She communicates excellently with us, providing us with the right instructions at every step and always following up on any outstanding issues. I highly recommend her. And I know she will extend the same treatment she has provided to us.)”

Expertise and great communication that makes a difference

“My husband and I has been working on a case since 2020 with another attorney but the lack of communication/ updates made us look for alternatives.

We had been working with Adriana attorney since August of 2024 and couldn’t be more than happier with the result. Her work ethic, communication and knowledge is top notch.

She will reply to every single one of my questions regarding the case within 24 hrs and always giving me updates about what’s going on and/or what’s the best solution to the said problem. I appreciate every little thing that she does to make sure the case went as smoothly as possible.

I know that immigration cases can take a long time to have a conclusion but with her expertise and great communication it really makes a difference. Thank you so much!”

QCIL really looks like the “Mr. Worldwide” of immigration law here in Charlotte, and we mean that in a good way. Its founder, attorney Dinh Tran, is a Vietnamese-Polish immigrant who speaks English, Spanish, French, Vietnamese, and Polish.

He’s been at it for about a decade now, but QCIL doesn’t feel outdated in its approach. We’re impressed by the in-house digital case management system clients can access for real-time updates on their immigration matters.

Video consultations are another smart touch, especially handy for folks overseas. It keeps everything accessible, no matter where you’re calling from.

That said, attorney Tran looks quite young for his age, so older clients might hesitate to take his advice seriously at first. The $200 consultation fee can sting a bit, too, though it feels more worthwhile after meeting him face-to-face.

Pros

  • A decade in business
  • Immigrant founder
  • Pentalingual practice
  • Digital case management

Cons

  • Youthful lawyer
  • Pricing a bit steep

Extremely supportive and helpful for our immigration paperwork

“My wife and I worked with Queen City Immigration and our attorney Mr. Tran through the green card office. From start to finish, we had a work permit and travel authorization within one month of applying. After four months we obtained a green card for my wife and the process was seamless and went great. I especially want to recognize the paralegal we worked with Aaliyah. She was extremely supportive and helpful throughout the process of us getting paperwork together and ready. I am very satisfied with the work and service we received. I highly recommend Queen City Immigration Law.”

– Jordan Slomianyj, Google Review

Highly responsible and accurate

“Dinh Tran is an excellent immigration attorney who helped me with my spouse visa and work extension. He is very responsible and understands the requirements very well. He was always available to answer my questions and provide me with updates on my case. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs help with immigration matters.

Dinh’s work for my spouse case:

He was very thorough in his understanding of my spouse visa and work extension requirements. He made sure that I had all of the necessary documentation and that my application was complete and accurate.

He was very responsive to my questions and concerns. He always made himself available to answer my calls and emails, even outside of normal business hours.

He kept me updated on the status of my spouse case throughout the process. He communicated with me regularly and let me know what to expect at each step.

He was successful in getting my spouse visa and work extension approved. I am very grateful for his help and I would highly recommend him to anyone.”

Another great NC immigration law firm is Pardo Law. Attorney Jorge Ivan Pardo, who’s an immigrant himself from Ecuador, has established it. We particularly like this firm because its founder is a legal maverick.

On top of that, he’s also an NC Board Certified Immigration Law Specialist, giving us the full confidence that your matters will be in expert hands from day one.

Even with this strong merit, the consultation fee hits just right at $150 (for individual clients). It already includes a solid 45 minutes to get your questions answered.

We also appreciate their express instructions to send supporting documents in advance, at least a day before the meeting. It saves everyone a lot of time and makes the meeting focused on strategy rather than dragging on for introductions.

That said, the only real downside to Pardo Law is its no-walk-in policy. We get it, though, since it reminds us that everyone’s time deserves respect.

Pros

  • Over a decade in business
  • Immigrant founder
  • Board-Certified legal services
  • 45-minute consultation duration
  • Efficient meeting system

Cons

  • Appointments required

Empathy and professionalism that helps

“Attorney Brooke Claiborne is an absolute angel. From the very first minute of our consultation, she stepped in with compassion, clarity, and action. She works incredibly fast, understands every detail of your case, and gives her whole heart to helping you. I can’t thank her enough for her empathy, her professionalism, and the way she truly fights for you. I highly, highly recommend her.”

– Engy Al’awdan, Google Review

Genuinely cares about your case

“I cannot recommend Mr. Pardo highly enough! From my very first consultation, I felt at ease knowing I was in such capable hands. Mr. Pardo took the time to understand my situation and patiently answered all my questions, no matter how small. I think what truly sets Mr. Pardo apart is his in-depth knowledge of immigration law and the personalized attention he provides. Mr. Pardo guided me through the complexities of my case with clarity and confidence, always keeping me informed about each step of the process. The team at Pardo Law firm is also fantastic—responsive and supportive, they made sure I never felt lost or overwhelmed. Erika was amazing and helped me lots as well. Thanks to Pardo Law firm’s expertise and dedication, I achieved a successful outcome in my immigration journey and just became a US Citizen! This was a long term dream I kind of lost hope for, and Mr. Pardo helped me make come true. If you’re looking for an immigration lawyer who is not only professional but also genuinely cares about your case, look no further than Mr. Pardo. Thank you so much for everything!”
