Have you ever watched one of those Architectural Digest celebrity home tours and thought, “That could work for my house”? And then you try to do it, but you fail miserably?
Yes, I’ve done that. I painted the kitchen green for my wife (like Dakota Johnson’s famous AD kitchen that she loved), but, unsurprisingly, I failed. I guess I bought the wrong shade of green (it looked like vomit).
It was so bad, I ended up hiring an interior designer, and boy, it was the best decision I made. You know, redesigning a space looks easy on YouTube, but it’s not, unless you have the creativity and skills for it.
Don’t mess up your house (like I did). Here are the best interior design firms in Charlotte for a home that you won’t be ashamed to host a party in!
How much is an interior designer’s fee in Charlotte?
Interior designers in Charlotte typically have an hourly fee of $100 to $200+. High-end firms will charge higher rates, while the costs per project will depend on the scale of the job and materials, which usually reach thousands of dollars.
1. Hart White Interiors

Best For: Classic and functional designs
Address: 1113 Greenwood Cliff
Contact: (828) 310-0340
Hours: Monday – Friday: 9 am – 5 pm
It’s not surprising that Hart White Interiors was one of the top picks of our team. They’re a full-service interior design firm in Charlotte with plenty of experience balancing aesthetics and functionality in every space.
That’s to be expected, honestly, since they’ve been in the industry since 2000, specializing in large-scale projects, such as new constructions and renovations. The extra perk is that they do small-scale jobs, like furnishings and concierge services.
And when you look at their portfolio, you’ll like them the way we do. Their designs are always on point and timeless, even when the client asks for something eclectic, which just shows their skills in mixing and matching various colors and textures.
The level of collaboration made a strong impression, as it keeps the project going smoothly. Most clients appreciated that they were always kept in the loop, as the interior design team did everything above board.
However, elevated experience, high-quality material choices, and luxury interior designs come at a price in Charlotte—a higher price than average, that is. But if you have the budget, you can’t say no to a headache-free service.
A joy to work with
“Hart White Interiors is such a joy to work with! Their eye for design is incredible, and they make every project feel effortless and fun. They’re collaborative, detail-oriented, and always deliver even better than expected. I definitely recommend partnering with this team!!”

Extremely talented, creative, and smart
“We have worked with Kirsten for over the past five years on 3 home projects. She is extremely talented, creative and smart. She is able to combine her vision with your vision for your property. She is not afraid to use color and rarely uses stock designs. Her custom window treatments add just the right spark to complete a project. She knows upholstery and fabrics and can see a room or imagine a finished product quickly. She is amazingly fun to work with and has the experience to anticipate problems and work around them.”

2. House of Nomad

Best For: Timeless designs that are full of character
Address: 4401 Barclay Downs Dr #132
Contact: (980) 371-9377
Hours: Monday – Friday: 9 am – 5 pm
What hooked us on House of Nomad? They think outside the box. Their design choices are full of character yet ageless, as they know how to balance out each aspect without making the space look cluttered.
They’re not ideal for small tasks since they focus on large-scale projects, such as new construction, full home projects, and large-scale renovations. What’s more is that they also work on vacation homes, and they accept projects outside of Charlotte.
As a full-design interior design firm, they’ll work from beginning to end. From what we’ve observed, they’re super easy to work with—they listen to clients, give their full attention to every project, and curate the design exactly to what the client needs.
Keep in mind that since they focus on large-scale projects, they’re going to cost a pretty penny, but they don’t go over the approved budget.
It makes sense, though, given their portfolio that’s full of charm, where they completely delivered and enhanced their clients’ visions.
Took our requests about functionality and budget to heart
“Seamless! Berk and Kelley recently designed our daughter’s nursery. From the first conversation to the final product they didn’t skip a beat. They are very creative, responsive, and flexible. Most importantly, they are great listeners! They listened to our initial ideas and visions for how we wanted the room to feel and made it come to life for us. They took to our requests about functionality and budget to heart, something that I feel is one of the key qualities in the best designers. We’ve since worked with them on freshening up the sitting room off our master bedroom with new art, seating, and shelf decor. Again, they were spot on! Highly recommended!”

Created a fantastic design that was exactly our style
“We love HON! We used Berk and Kelley for a project at our old house and loved every step of the process and our living room looked amazing. We recently moved and a lot of of our furniture didn’t work in our new place. Berk and Kelley created a fantastic design that was exactly our style. They were very professional throughout the whole process and everything came together perfectly. Rachel is amazing as well!!”

3. New South Home

Best For: Intentional designs
Address: 316 E Matthews St, Matthews
Contact: (704) 847-4261, [email protected]
Hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 9 am – 3 pm
- Friday: 9 am – 12 pm
New South Home ticks all the boxes for luxury interior designs for small and large projects in Charlotte, and it wasn’t a shock. They’re an award-winning firm, which includes the Best Studio Design from the Interior Design Society.
Judging by the interior design projects we’ve seen, they deserve every award. Their team decorates with every intention, mixing functionality and artistic styles, while creating a space that feels warm and welcoming.
One of their standout features is that everything is customizable, which is a normal practice for interior designers in Charlotte. But here, they elevate it by providing tailored, elegant designs while sticking to the budget, whether it’s for a renovation or furnishing.
Yes, they’re not expensive, even when their style looks like it is. Sure, full-home interior services will cost a lot, but this team knows where to source quality materials and find top-notch contractors without breaking the bank.
Our only gripe? They aren’t the most accessible because they close earlier than usual—we had to phone them again when nobody answered the first time. We’re being nitpicky, though.
Brought to life a design vision that exceeded our expectations
“We loved working with New South Home from start to finish! Melissa and her team listened to our needs and preferences, and brought to life a design vision that exceeded our expectation. Throughout the project, the team maintained clear and open communication. They provided an exceptional level of service and expertise that transformed our new home.”
-Paul Stroup, Google Review
Amazing to work with
“Melissa and New South Home were amazing to work with! During a pandemic when there was so much uncertainty with materials and items coming, we were still able to pull off three gorgeous rooms! They were very receptive to any changes that needed to be made and made sure everything was 110% I only wish they could do my entire house now! We would highly recommend them and wouldn’t use anyone else for future projects.”

Best For: Eclectic designs
Address: 3215 Wamath Drive

Hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 9 am – 5 pm
- Friday: 9 am – 3 pm
If you want your home to stand out, Bohemian Bungalow Design should be on your call list. They’re unique, specializing in modern, eclectic spaces, where each design has its own unique character.
You’ll agree with us once you see their portfolio. They bring out a one-of-a-kind take on every project, as everything is thoughtfully planned, from the paint colors to the furnishings.
The spaces we’ve seen blew us away, but if you prefer something classic or minimalist, that’s not something you’ll get here. Don’t get us wrong, the design team can bring exactly the style you want, but with a more eclectic vibe.
They know how to combine various colors, textures, and patterns without looking cluttered, whether for remodeling or a full design service. And those are on top of sticking within the budget!
Their professionalism gets a 5/5, as they kept clients clued in on the whole process. The collaborative approach is impressive, as their team will work with your vision while being honest about some questionable client choices—a team player, overall.
Brought a sophisticated design perspective
“We worked with Wendy on our midcentury modern home renovation and couldn’t be happier with the results. She brought a sophisticated design perspective and introduced combinations that felt fresh and unique, yet perfectly suited to our home. Wendy worked well with our general contractor and his team, which made the renovation process much more manageable overall. She also introduced us to some great vendors (in particular for cabinetry, tile, and wallpaper), who were invaluable to the project. Overall, her ability to balance style with functionality truly elevated the finished space.”

5. D.Nicole Design Studio

Best For: Reasonably priced room remodels
Address: 10806 Reames Rd Ste G
Contact: (980) 428-6115
Hours: Monday – Friday: 9 am – 4:30 pm
We like that D. Nicole Design Studio is one step ahead by producing stunning designs while bringing in her real estate background to increase property value. Gorgeously designed spaces that are good for reselling a house are solid!
For the record, that’s not what they focus on. They lock in to what the client wants by making sure that their vision is brought to life, all while creating a space with both functionality and visual appeal.
Their interior design firm specializes in remodeling Charlotte homes, mainly for kitchens and bathrooms. They work on other rooms of the house too, but they don’t focus on large-scale design services.
What pulled us in was their prices, which were reasonable—perfect for budget renovations. The designs and overall service didn’t match the cost, to be honest, because the whole process was smooth and felt high-end, based on client interactions.
Plus, they managed to capture exactly what the client desired, showcasing their creativity, consistency, and flexibility. The colors, materials, and textures worked seamlessly!
Everything turned out beautifully
“Denean did an amazing job designing several spaces in our home shortly after we moved in. Everything turned out beautifully from the paint selection to simple things like changing out individual handles on our kitchen cabinets to match the rest of our decor. Denean was available for deliveries on days when my husband and I had to work and we were very appreciative for that. We are looking forward to using Denean for future projects in our home.”
-Rachel N, Google Review
Handles everything from beginning to end
“It was an amazing experience working with Denean! She handled everything from beginning to end, communicated throughout the project and made sure that we were pleased with our master bathroom renovation. Couldn’t recommend her enough!”
