If elevated Italian comfort food is what you’re craving, then a visit to Angeline’s is all you need. They pair hearty, feel-good dishes with a warm, casually elegant space, with a standout wine wall, a cozy bar area, and a patio that feels straight out of an Italian piazza.

But at the heart of Angeline’s is the food, where they take Italian favorites and give them a Southern twist. Must-tries include their Whipped Ricotta, perfect for the table, their signature Angeline’s Chopped Salad, and fan-favorite Cacio e Pepe.

It’s worth noting that they don’t have a kids’ menu, but they’ll happily tweak dishes to accommodate dietary needs.

They’re also perfect for small events, as they have a private dining room that seats about 34 and an outdoor patio for more intimate gatherings.

Angeline’s is more of a mid-to-upscale spot, so prices run a bit higher, but it’s popular for a reason. Since the dining room fills up fast, make sure to call ahead for a reservation.

Pros

  • Warm, casually elegant atmosphere
  • Can accommodate dietary needs even without a kids’ menu
  • Suitable for small events with private dining spaces

Cons

  • Reservations are strongly recommended
  • Pricing is on the higher side

“The food was absolutely excellent and incredibly delicious. I had the pleasure of dining there on Saturday during lunchtime. The atmosphere was pleasant and not overly crowded; the service was attentive without feeling pushy or pressured. The overall environment was very good. The food itself was truly delicious, and the price point was fantastic. I will definitely be returning.”

Absolutely delighted with the entire experience

“We celebrated my wife’s birthday at Angeline’s and were absolutely delighted with the entire experience. We were seated promptly, and our server, Worship, was truly excellent—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming.

Outstanding service and superb food

We started with the delicious bruschetta, and for our mains, the Chicken Scarpariello was rich and flavorful, and the catch of the day (whole fish) was expertly prepared. The meal finished on a high note as we shared the unique and creamy orange ricotta cheesecake. Angeline’s even provided a small, thoughtful celebratory cake for my wife. The outstanding service and superb food made it a five-star evening. Will be back!”

Sea Grill Restaurant might sound understated, but this Charlotte gem takes fine-dining seafood to the next level. We love how they blend Asian, European, and American flavors to create fresh, imaginative dishes. Think fancy surf and turf with a creative twist!

Plus, their menu has everything, from “Seafood Towers” with oysters, scallops, and more to chef specials like lobster frutti di mare and salt-baked branzino.

Our top pick? Their Seafood Brunch Buffet on weekends! It has more than 40 chef-crafted menu items, from sushi to desserts. Plus, their service is on point even with the crowd: staff are friendly and approachable, keeping food flowing and glasses topped off.

As for price range, plan for about $100+ per person. Don’t sweat it, though; between shared seafood platters, premium mains, and specialty dishes, it’s a splurge worth savoring.

Finally, we like the chic, upscale vibe, making it perfect for date nights or special celebrations!

Pros

  • Vast and creative menu
  • Stylish, upscale atmosphere
  • Central uptown location

Cons

  • Pricing is on the higher side
  • Not completely authentic seafood

One of the best seafood restaurants I’ve ever patronized

“Located in the heart of the city at the Epicenter lies one of the best seafood restaurants I’ve ever patronized. The host were warm and welcoming and the ambiance is very elegant. They were easily able to accommodate our reservation changes. The wait staff were very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. The baked oysters and beef marrow were amazing. The lobster royale was a 10/10. The salmon pasta was also delicious. The beef Wellington was good but slightly over cooked and under seasoned. All in all I’d highly recommend this restaurant to my seafood lovers!!”

Everything that hit the table was fantastic

“My wife Kerry and I were looking for a place to celebrate our 31st anniversary and we made the right choice! I noted on the reservation that it was our anniversary and we were acknowledged as soon as we walked in the door with a handwritten note from the staff. A super nice touch! Throughout the experience everyone who interacted with us wished us Happy Anniversary.

We were seated and our server Cynthia greeted us and after a few moments of small talk we learned that our we were her FIRST TABLE in Sea Grill EVER! Cynthia took us step by step through the menu explaining everything we wanted to know with color. She was super knowledgeable and suggested quite a few items. We knew before we even went in what we were ordering, we had studied the menu in anticipation of this night. Service was fantastic, especially with it being her first night. She jokingly told us to come back in a couple months and she would be even better, so we will! I also want to commend the service manager that was upstairs, I saw him take on a super kind coaching role for a moment with Cynthia, and he seemed like someone who wants to encourage growth to excellence.

Everything that hit the table was fantastic, there are a lot of “interactive” meals on the menu, one of which we chose, the Pasta Alla Ruota, a wonderful parmesan truffle dish that was finished tableside in a wheel of flaming parmesan. It was delicious. We had apps, mains, and 3 deserts (yes THREE) and everything was wonderful.”

Another showstopper is The Fig Tree Restaurant, a longtime favorite and one of Charlotte’s top dinner destinations. Whether it be for their thoughtfully curated wine list or refined cuisine, it has earned a steady stream of accolades that speak for themselves.

Housed in the beautifully restored 1913 Lucas House bungalow, the space feels both cozy and refined, perfect for intimate dinners. Come warmer weather, dining on the veranda or patio adds an extra layer of charm.

Now, let’s talk about the food. The menu is a thoughtful blend of French, Italian, and European influences, well-known for its upscale culinary flair rather than casual comfort food. Hence, pricing sits on the higher side at this special-occasion-level restaurant.

Even then, the experience more than justifies the splurge.

Some must-try items from the menu include their legendary peppercorn-crusted elk chop, juicy veal chop with jumbo shrimp, and delicious pan-roasted sea bass with Maine lobster and tarragon beurre blanc.

Pros

  • Strong accolades
  • Veranda and patio seating
  • Great wine list and upscale dishes

Cons

  • Pricing is on the higher side
  • Limited hours

Always the best experience

“Always the best experience. An old foodie couple who goes out to try new restaurants every week told me that their favorite restaurant is Fig Tree without hesitation. The first time I tried it, it instantly became our favorite too.

I recommended it to my friends, and we had a party of 7 everyone agreed it was the best fine-dining restaurant they’d ever been to. With every bite, you can tell the chefs truly put their heart and effort into the food.

Our server, Justin, added extra charm to the experience with his great sense of humor. making the evening even more memorable.”

Isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience

“A Culinary Love Letter at The Fig Tree 🍷✨

If you’re looking for the ultimate romantic dining experience in Charlotte, The Fig Tree delivers in spades. From the moment we walked in, the intimate ambiance set the tone—low lighting, warm tones, and just enough old-world charm to feel like a quiet escape from the everyday.

The service was flawless: attentive without hovering, informed without being rehearsed. Every course felt like it had its own story. The interplay of flavors and textures was nothing short of sublime—each bite perfectly balanced and thoughtfully composed. Truly a chef’s kiss moment from start to finish.

But let me tell you—do not skip dessert. The in-house patisserie staff clearly doesn’t mess around. Every confection was a work of art, crafted with flair and finesse that left us speechless (and borderline licking the plate).

The Fig Tree isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience, and one we won’t soon forget. Highly recommend for anniversaries, date nights, or whenever you want to feel a little spoiled.”

Perched on the 21st floor in Uptown, Fahrenheit is an open-air rooftop restaurant with a splendid, wrap-around patio elevated with fire pits and panoramic skyline views. The menu mixes creative American fare with Mediterranean and Asian-inspired dishes, from bar snacks to elevated entrees.

If you want the full Fahrenheit experience, start your visit at sunset for cocktails, rolling into the lively night. You also can’t miss hitting happy hour on weekdays for a chill start, while weekends bring all the energy and social buzz.

That said, keep in mind that Fahrenheit is as much a nightlife hotspot as it is a restaurant, so it might not be the best choice if you’re looking for a quiet, low-key dinner. Still, we like that they offer unique deals like their $5 at 5 Bar Bites, letting you enjoy the scene without going all in.

It’s also worth booking ahead and planning for a bit of a splurge to help you make the most of it.

Pros

  • Unbeatable skyline views
  • Fun, unstaple but relaxed vibe
  • Bar bite deals

Cons

  • Reservation highly recommended
  • Slightly higher budget needed for premium items

“We visited Fahrenheit for our first dinner in Charlotte. Our server, Kevin, was incredibly friendly and welcoming, though his newness showed (it was only his fourth day), with a few minor service hiccups like dropped items and a mistaken dessert order. He has great potential and will undoubtedly become an excellent server with more experience.

The food, however, was absolutely phenomenal. It’s a fantastic spot for small plates and sushi. We sampled an array of dishes: the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, Ahi Poke Nachos, and Lobster Dumplings to start. For sushi, we loved the CEO Roll, Gold Standard, and Queen City Sunset. Our main course, the Pancetta Spring Pea Fettuccine, was also outstanding. A memorable culinary introduction to the city.”

“First time in a rooftop restaurant and we had a blast. We celebrated my daughter’s 17 birthday. We arrived early, bit We didn’t have to wait too long to be seated, and we actually were lucky because they gave us a table outside. Emma, the waitress, was very friendly, polite and made sure we were having a great time. We liked that we could stand up and take pictures in the balcony, or go to the fireplace and sit down there and then come back to the table. The food was delicious and the price was as you would expect in a place like this. Definitely will consider to comeback.”

For fantastic steak and seafood, Dean’s Italian Steakhouse is hard to beat. They’re known for classic steakhouse fare, think like dry-aged prime cuts and American wagyu, blended with Italian touches, like house-made pastas.

What we love about Dean’s is that they have generous portions and have nuanced flavors that are unmistakably theirs, with excellent service that adds to the overall experience.

Speaking of, to elevate the meal even further, we suggest pairing it with selections from their thoughtful wine list and inventive craft cocktails.

The restaurant’s modern steakhouse design makes it perfect for everything, from business lunches to romantic dinners, with both indoor seating and al fresco dining that guests love.

Hence, the steakhouse is often bustling with diners, which can get too lively, especially on weekends and during evening rushes.

Just a heads up: as a higher-end steakhouse, things can get pricey here, especially for more premium cuts and chef’s specials.

Pros

  • Generous portions and nuanced flavors
  • Attentive, professional service
  • Al fresco dining available

Cons

  • Can get busy, especially on weekends and evenings
  • Costs can add up quickly

Delicious food, great service, and a pleasant modern atmosphere

“Delicious food, great service, and a pleasant modern atmosphere! Dined here after a Panthers game and everything was amazing! The steak, lobster, steakhouse wedge salad, and desserts were phenomenal! The mocktail was flavorful also! But our waiter, Cassidy H, and his service were the best part! His recommendations and his personality as well as his quick attentive service made this visit to Dean’s delightful as well as delicious!”

Delicious food and wonderful wait staff

“My wife and I had a lovely anniversary dinner and it’s all thanks to Dean’s delicious food and wonderful wait staff. If you’re able to have Jason and Jeff as your waiters, you’re sure to have a wonderful experience. I’ve never met someone as knowledgeable about all menu items (especially the wine) as Jason. Both had delightful personalities that really made the dinner personal and memorable. Can’t wait to stop by again to try more menu items. Do yourself a favor and try the wagyu rib cap; you won’t be disappointed.”
