The 5 Best Singing Lessons in Charlotte to Level Up Your Vocal Prowess!

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Expertise & Teaching Style - We made sure the instructors were not just experienced vocalists but also great communicators—people who could break down techniques and customize lessons for each student’s skill level.

Flexibility - We looked for places that offer a range of lesson times, weekend sessions, and even online options for busy people or last-minute changes.

Availability -  We selected centers with plenty of open slots for new students, a quick response to inquiries, and clear information on how to sign up.

Student Support - We favored centers that offer regular feedback, practice resources, and performance opportunities to boost confidence.

I remember back in high school, my friends convinced me to join the school musical—let’s just say, nobody mistook me for Beyoncé. I couldn’t hit half the notes, and my stage fright was real.

But if you’ve got the passion (and maybe a little more natural talent than I), finding the right teacher really is a game-changer for your voice. So, with the help of my team, we look for Charlotte’s best singing lesson centers to save you the hassle.

From modern studios to cozy home setups, we’ve seen it all. Now, if you’re ready to sing your heart out, stick around for these places that’ll truly help you shine!

How much do singing lessons cost in Charlotte?

In Charlotte, singing lessons typically cost between $39 and $100 per hour, depending on the teacher’s experience and lesson format. Some instructors or group classes may be available at lower or higher rates, but most students can expect to pay around $40 to $75 for a one-hour private lesson.

Bold Music stands out as a go-to spot for singing lessons in Charlotte, especially since there’s no generic curriculum here. Every lesson is mapped around the student’s skill level, favorite genres, and busy schedule.

Speaking of busy schedules, virtual and in-home lessons are an option here, and if you need a makeup class, they’ll fit you in via Zoom without hassle. There’s even a risk-free guarantee for those who aren’t satisfied with their experience.

Now, aside from vocals, potential clients can also branch out into guitar, piano, drums, songwriting, and pretty much anything else. We particularly love that they don’t limit anyone based on age or experience; beginners are just as welcome as seasoned singers!

One thing that previous clients rave about is the actual performance experience they get through Bold Music’s gig nights at local venues. According to them, this experience really brought out their skills live.

Just a heads up: they’re so popular, so booking your preferred teacher sometimes takes a bit of patience.

Pros

  • Highly personalized lesson plans
  • Wide variety of instruments and music styles
  • In-home and virtual lesson options
  • Real performance opportunities
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Accepts all ages and skill levels
  • Risk-free guarantee

Cons

  • High demand
  • Membership required for lessons

Expert instructors

“Bold Music is fantastic! Their instructors really go the extra mile to engage with your children and teach them such an excellent skill at their individual level. We were hesitant at first to start lessons as early as did (he’s 3.5) but now I am blown away by how much he is learning and how much he stays engaged and enjoys the lessons!”

Convenient in-home lessons

“We love Bold Music.  My 10yr old has been taking lesson for almost a year now and love that Mr Bryan comes to our house.  It has made scheduling so much easier.  She has really learned a lot in the little time she has been playing and her confidence has soared.  We loved their gig night that show cases their young musicians.”

Robert, who runs Voice Instruction, has been teaching vocals in Charlotte since 2006 and holds a master’s in choral conducting. He’s known for helping singers tap into their natural voice using relaxed but powerful techniques.

Whether you’re aiming for classical, jazz, blues, rock, or country, Robert’s lessons focus on more than just pitch or projection. He also teaches harmony, improvisation, sight-reading, and basic musical skills, adapting to the client’s goals and level.

What we love most is that Robert offers flexible packages, including trial lessons and the option to get family members involved.  Another thing we appreciate is that potential clients can actually hear before-and-after samples of real students’ progress on their site.

This gives extra confidence that Robert can actually help improve one’s voice. Furthermore, scheduling is straightforward, and fees are clearly listed, so no surprises there.

Unfortunately, there are no online or in-home options offered, which might not work for everyone.

Pros

  • Experienced, highly qualified instructor
  • Personalized, genre-spanning training
  • Clear pricing
  • Different packages available
  • Transparent student progress samples

Cons

  • No online or in-home lesson options
  • Limited hours

Transformative vocal control

“Robert has profoundly changed how I interpret and channel music. He explains the science in how to sing but does it in such a way that you’re able to understand and use it to have control of your voice in a way you didn’t think possible. He’s helped me so much in my musical journey and has been a wonderful mentor. He’s an excellent resource for anyone serious about singing.”

Shreya Katti, Google Review

Noticeable improvement

“I’ve been going to Robert for almost a year now and have seen a big improvement in my overall sound and vocal quality. If you are dedicated and willing to put in the work you will notice significant improvement and won’t be disappointed!!!”

TR Music & Voice Lessons stands out as a favorite for both newbies and long-time musicians. The first thing we notice is just how much flexibility they offer—in-person, at-home, and online sessions are all available.

Now, they’ve been doing these lessons nationwide since 2005, so they’re not new to the game. Multiple instructors, covering everything from vocals to guitar, piano, drums, violin, and more, mean students aren’t pigeonhole into just one instrument or style, either.

Genre-wise, we noticed they cover Rock, Pop, Country, Gospel, Jazz, and even Praise music, so finding an instructor isn’t an issue.

A lot of what makes them special is how they let students tailor their learning, whether they need a half-hour quick session or want to really dig in for a full hour.

However, one-on-one teaching is their main thing, so for those looking for a social, group-class vibe, it’s something to consider.

The good thing is that every student we spoke with highlighted the supportive instructor and the ease of tracking progress through their online system.

Pros

  • Versatile lesson options
  • Wide range of instruments and genres
  • Experienced instructors
  • Flexible schedules
  • Free first lesson
  • Satisfaction guarantee available

Cons

  • No group lessons

Supportive teaching

“Taylor is wonderful. She is really patient and encouraging. She has tons of sheet music and super fun warm ups. I love going through the warm ups and then working through a new song. I look forward to the lessons every week. She has an awesome app that allows you to keep your lessons on your phone. You can hear your progress each session and this makes it super easy to practice as well. She is just a great teacher and super nice person:)”

Innovative instruction

“John has a fantastic way of teaching! One of the things that set him apart was how he recorded videos of new techniques or strum patterns and shared them with me. It was a game changer for practicing at home—whenever I forgot something, I could just watch the video again and get it right. Highly recommend his lessons!”

Joyful Sounds School of Music and Arts gets high marks for the sheer variety it offers. Lessons here start with kids as young as four and go all the way into adult courses.

They teach everything from voice and piano to guitar, violin, percussion, and even dance under one roof, which families juggling more than one child (or instrument) find especially convenient.

Joyful Sounds also uses popular, well-regarded resources like Faber alongside other proven music programs, so their students are getting a solid foundation.

We also love that there’s always some kind of engaging activity at hand, whether it’s homeschool piano, group classes, or their summer music camps.

Flexibility is another strong point here: potential students can pick between private or group lessons, and there are enough courses and packages to fit pretty much every budget and schedule.

The only gripe we heard was about the occasional untidiness in some rooms or with a few instruments.

Pros

  • Broad instrument and dance offerings
  • Accepts all ages
  • Flexible private and group lessons
  • Wide range of packages
  • Options for summer camps
  • Welcoming community environment

Cons

  • Some reports of dirty rooms and instruments

Inclusive environment

“Absolutely love Mr. David and the team!  This was hands down the best summer camp my daughter has been in.  They foster such a community of inclusivity, positivity, care and learning all things music.  My daughter has learned so much through lessons and the camp.  I’m amazed of her progress.  I so appreciate everything they do!”

Talented instructors

“Great music school. My daughters absolutely love it here. Teachers are very talented. My daughters have barely touched Piano before they started here and in 7 months they performed for their first rehearsal.”

OnStage School of Music is managed by people who are music teachers themselves, which gives the whole place this every down-to-earth, “we get it” energy.

The teachers here can adapt to the students’ pace, whether they’re a total beginner or have had some experience before.

They also cover all types of genres—rock, pop, jazz, musical theater, and more—and the lesson structure actually changes depending on the students’ goals.

We also appreciate how they’ve made it easy for families with all sorts of schedules. Whether they want lessons in their cozy studios, online, or even in-home, everything is possible.

There are a ton of nice extras, too: a student rewards program for every milestone, flexible scheduling, and recitals that are set up like community celebrations.

The only downside is they don’t do group classes, so it’s more about personalized, private attention. That said, families have told us that staff members are super patient with rescheduling and make-up lessons!

Pros

  • Personalized instruction
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Multiple lesson formats
  • Welcomes all ages
  • Student rewards program
  • Regular recitals

Cons

  • No group classes

Inspires confidence and growth

“Janay is an amazing instructor! We signed our daughter up to help her get out of her shell. A few months into the lessons, we noticed how much more confident she became. Her singing went from a timid whisper to a clear belting. My wife and I were so impressed that it inspired the both of us to sign for lessons with her.  Our other daughter is thriving with Corey. The instructors at this place are just so amazing at what they do.”

Nurturing guidance

“We love our voice teacher, Cory! He’s a lot of fun, friendly, easy to work with and instantly made our daughter feel comfortable. He comes to our home for voice lessons and it’s always a pleasure to listen to him and our daughter sing. She has grown a lot in her singing since she started working with him! Highly recommend giving them a try if you’re looking for a voice teacher.”
