We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Quality of Service: I reviewed Charlotte-based tree removal contractors known to be professional, reliable, and efficient, as showcased by their many satisfactory online ratings.

Expertise: The tree removers needed years of experience and be certified arborists or tree specialists to ensure safe, high-quality work.

Communication: Their staff should be friendly and easy to reach, with clear, informative responses to bookings, quotes, updates, and other inquiries.

Range of Services: Having a wide array of services was helpful too. Besides tree removal, I picked those who can provide pruning, stump grinding, land clearing, and the like.

Understanding Client Needs: These tree specialists must have a client-focused approach and offer custom solutions that are creative, efficient, and flexible.

Value and Cost-Effectiveness: Apart from affordability, I also considered those with upfront and reasonable rates.

Emergency Services: It was important to me that the tree cutters be accessible for urgent care or emergencies. Having 24/7 availability was a plus for me when available.

Ever look at your yard and think, “No, those trees are fine. I’ll deal with them next time”? I’ve been so busy that I’ve said those words several times a week. But weeks turned into months, and months turned into years. Now, I’ve got overgrown trees blocking my view.

I really have to work on my selective procrastination since I’m diligent at everything else. I hyped myself up to call a few tree removal contractors in Charlotte, but they’re among these three things: unresponsive, unavailable, or overpriced. Quite frustrating!

But eventually, my long search gave me the fruit of my labor—I finally had a list of reliable options with me! So whether you’re a homeowner, property manager, landscaper, or garden enthusiast, here’s a review of some of my best picks below.

Marc’s Tree Service offers everything from raising canopy heights (pruning or cutting lower branches) to removing dead and hazardous trees. It also provides stump grinding, storm damage, and shrub pruning services.

I reckon this makes its team a one-stop hub for all things tree removal in Charlotte. Plus, it’s amenable to emergency services, making the team very reliable in my eyes.

Also, a client I had a chat with commended the team’s tidiness. They made sure that they completed the job without damaging other flowers and shrubs in the area, which shows me their great care and awareness.

I also appreciate that these tree removers are experts with trees and limbs near power and utility lines. For me, this ensures the safety of both workers and clients.

However, a former client mentioned that this company’s fees are a tad higher than those of others. While there are many factors to consider for the best value, I still suggest shopping around for quotes before deciding.

Pros

  • Full range of services
  • Available for emergencies
  • Praised for cleanliness
  • Experts in working around power lines

Cons

  • Pricier than some others

Excellent, Super Ethical

“Alex took excellent care of us. What we thought was a complicated issue turned out to be straightforward and was taken care of right away and for much less than he could have charged. Super ethical business practice and conduct. Will be using Marc’s for any tree service needs in the future.”

-Mr. Darren Frank, Google Review

Always Professional

“Marc’s Tree Service has always done a great job of keeping our tees looking well trimmed and healthy. Their team is always professional, treating our yard with great care.”

-Ms. Sandy McElfresh, Google Review

You can rely on Justin’s Tree Service for trimming and pruning, stump grinding, storm damage, and tree removal in Charlotte.

I’m also stoked about its big online gallery, which I believe gives an idea of how its removers navigate a good range of its previous worksites.

Additionally, I love that clients don’t have to worry about working around the company’s schedule since its team is available 24/7, 365 days a year. That means there’s always a staff member waiting to answer the phone.

Should you want to get a quote online, its contact form already asks for several essential client information (name, email, phone, complete address in separate fields, service type, and notes) so you can submit a proper quote request.

Because from what I noticed, other companies offer a much more basic one, which I feel can be more tedious or less user-friendly (especially for older clients).

That said, I feel the team might be overqualified if your space is slightly smaller than what it usually works on. It’s smart to discuss the project size thoroughly beforehand to be sure.

Pros

  • Ideal for medium-to-large jobs
  • Large website project gallery
  • 24-hour, year-round availability
  • Detailed online quote form

Cons

  • Can be overqualified for ultra-low-cost jobs

Fabulous Job

“These folks are amazing!! Did a fabulous job of being exact about which limbs we wanted cut, advising us on tree issues and their crew was great.”

-Ms. Ellen Stevens, Google Review

Very Professional and Understanding

“Justin’s Tree Service just removed a mature black walnut tree from my backyard. They also trimmed lower branches off another tree. They were very professional and understanding of my requests. The cleanup after the job was so complete they left my yard cleaner than it was when they arrived. I couldn’t be happier with their service and I highly recommend them.”

Queen City Tree Service has more than 2 decades of experience under its belt—that’s almost 8,700 trees removed! This is why I feel confident that its Charlotte tree removal team can truly deliver.

I’m impressed by its broad range of services too. Besides tree and stump removal, it provides pruning, trimming, fertilization, and crown reductions. The way I see it, you can rely on the team for both short- and long-term services.

You can also call its crew after a storm as well. One client I spoke with raved about how these pros safely and carefully cut down and hauled away his damaged trees. They can work with any tree size, so I bet they can work on most project sizes too!

Other than that, you’ll be working directly with the company’s owner himself. This reassures me that you’ll get quality services. You can take a peek at its extensive website gallery as well—it’s got lots of clear and diverse project photos.

But unlike other tree removers in the city, just keep in mind that this one isn’t accessible 24/7.

Pros

  • 20+ years of expertise
  • Good for quick fixes and maintenance
  • Direct owner involvement (great quality oversight)
  • Big online photo album

Cons

  • Limited Sunday and after-hours availability

Went Above and Beyond

“Robert and his crew were excellent! They quickly took care of my tree removal and stump grinding as requested with no issues. Went above and beyond with their level of service, including clean up. I’d definitely use them again!”

-Mr. Jonathan D, Google Review

Responsive, Professional, and Knowledgeable

“Queen City Tree service did a wonderful job trimming several trees and removing dead ones from our property. I got several quotes and they were right in line with the others, but were much more responsive, professional, and knowledgeable. I can’t believe how well they cleaned up, not a speck of anything left. I see why two other neighbors referred them to me, and I will definitely refer them to others. Thank you so much!”

Monster Tree Service is a tree removal company to consider if you lack the time or energy for regular yard upkeep for a residential or commercial property.

It has already worked on many types of trees, and I like that its website mentions notable examples. This includes red maple, southern magnolia, and loblolly pine, which are pretty diverse in size—they basically go from around 40 to 90 feet tall!

It’s also fascinating to me how it uses an AI chat to answer potential clients’ questions online. This shows me the company’s innovation and creativity in ensuring all basic questions are answered before consultation, saving everyone time.

I find it handy that there are multiple ways to reach the team as well. You can text or email them. Otherwise, you can always ask for a callback.

Do note that this company mostly serves South Charlotte, though. If you’re farther from the metro area, it’s best to mention this to the team right away to see if they can make accommodations.

Pros

  • Caters to homes and businesses
  • Skilled with many tree types and sizes
  • AI chat tool answering basic questions online
  • Multiple contact methods available

Cons

  • Limited service area coverage

Prompt, Courteous, and Professional

“Tyler and his team were prompt, courteous and professional. They did what they said they were going to do quickly and efficiently. They cleaned up after themselves beautifully and made me feel like a valued customer. Absolutely will call Monster again.”

-Mr. Ian Matchett, Google Review

Did Everything Fast And Efficiently

“Andrew did an excellent job. He was here on time and ready to go, did everything fast and efficiently, clean up and even put back a fence so it doesn’t look like it was even moved. Would recommend Monster to everyone needing tree service.”

-Mr. Todd Smith, Google Review

Bartlett Tree Experts in Charlotte prides itself on its deep understanding of many local tree species, soil conditions, and climate factors.

One client I had a chat with even commended how informative its team is. I appreciate experts who can explain their work simply, so that clients aren’t kept in the dark.

It’s also helpful for me that it has quite a big team. Besides arborists or tree specialists, it’s got a couple of horticulturists (professionals who study flowers, fruits, and vegetables) to ensure healthy plant growth. Great for maintenance, in my opinion.

You can even download its Certificate of Insurance (COI) on its website. For me, this adds credibility and saves time, rather than having to ask for it during your initial consultation.

The only drawback I can see is that its team isn’t available on weekends. If interested, you’ll most likely have to make time to reach the staff on a typical workday.

Pros

  • Strong knowledge of city-specific tree species
  • Well-rounded team of arborists and horticulturists
  • Downloadable Certificate of Insurance online
  • Praised for being highly informative

Cons

  • Closed on weekends

Exceptional

“Thrilled with tree trimming job Bartlett Trees did for us. Crew of Logan, Alonzo & Luke were exceptional. Tom Lillo, arborist rep, made appropriate recommendation. He also discovered a serious bug problem on our Japanese Maple, which is addressed. Highly recommend Bartlett.”

-Ms. Caroline Quinn, Google Review

Very Knowledgeable and Friendly

“Need 20 year old tree structurally pruned. Aborist was very knowledgeable and friendly. Tree technicians did an excellent job and very customer focused.”

-Ms. Carrie Cespedes, Google Review
