Put Your Best Foot Forward with Charlotte’s 5 Bunion Surgery Pros

bunion-surgery-charlotte
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Experience and Qualifications - We included specialists with years of experience treating bunions and impressive medical credentials. Board certifications and specialized training in foot and ankle surgery were must-haves.

Accessibility and Availability - No one wants to wait forever to see a specialist, so we checked the clinic locations, appointment flexibility, and how easy it is to get hold of their office for scheduling or follow-ups.

Patient Care - Surgery can be nerve-wracking, so we prioritized surgeons known for their bedside manner, clear communication, and attentive pre- and post-op support. Great reviews from actual patients were a big plus.

Treatment Options - We looked for specialists who offer a range of treatments and personalize their approach to each patient’s needs.

I don’t know about you, but nothing ruins a good day like bunion pain. Trying to squeeze my foot into my shoes is basically a gamble at this point—will today be agony or just mildly annoying?

If you’re tired of limping around or wincing when you walk, welcome to the club. I’ve spent way too much time searching for surgeons and weighing my options (trust me, it’s confusing out there).

So, instead of trudging through endless reviews and medical jargon, my team and I rounded up the best bunion surgeons in Charlotte to make life easy for you. These surgeons are a cut above, and your feet will probably thank us later!

How much does bunion surgery cost in Charlotte?

In Charlotte, you can expect to pay between $6,050 and $7,583 for bunion surgery, depending on the provider and procedure type. This price range generally covers the surgeon’s fee, the surgical facility, and basic related costs.

Dr. Amanda Fletcher at OrthoCarolian really stands out. First off, her background is pretty impressive—she wrapped up a combined MD/BA program, holds an MSc, and polished off her residency at Duke (which is no small feat).

Plus, she trained with the best at Mercy Medical Center’s Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction, so she’s more than familiar with both routine and complex cases.

We chatted with a few folks in the waiting area and got lots of feedback that she doesn’t just rush into surgery; she lays out all the non-surgical and minimally invasive options before going under the knife.

Dr. Fletcher and her team make a point to walk you through each step, and there’s transparency when it comes to pricing and aftercare. You can tell patient follow-up matters a lot here—they’re thorough every single time.

The only drawback is that some patients have mentioned that getting custom orthotics approved by insurance can be a slow process at this office.

Pros

  • Highly qualified and experienced surgeon
  • Specialized in minimally invasive bunion procedures
  • Comprehensive care
  • Transparent pricing and post-op follow-up
  • Team known for thorough patient education

Cons

  • Slow insurance approval for custom orthotics

Attentive care

“Great staff from doctor and nurses to front desk. I felt like I was heard well cared for. A rainbow of cast colors to choose from too!”

Jason Gilchrist, Google Review

Seamless communication

“Great staff, great communication. I had my achilles repaired and checked in and checked out nearly down to the minute of the original schedule they gave me.

Very blessed to have been able to use this team.”

We honestly felt good about recommending Ankle & Foot Center—everyone from the front desk to the medical assistants seemed genuinely chill and super helpful (and yes, they actually answer the phone).

We especially liked that Dr. Scott Basinger takes his time explaining things—we never felt rushed, and he makes sure you know exactly what’s going on. One of the things that impressed us most was how seriously he takes keeping up with new techniques.

It’s not just business as usual here; he’s got loads of continuing education under his belt and always seems to be up-to-date, whether it’s the latest in minimally invasive bunion fixes or complex diabetic foot care.

The clinic itself feels pretty current too; it’s clean and streamlined, and they actually stick to their appointment times (huge win).

On the flip side, weekend appointments just aren’t a thing here, and since Dr. Basinger is the only surgeon here, his calendar definitely fills up fast, so you’ll want to plan.

Pros

  • Up-to-date on advanced foot and ankle procedures
  • Welcoming, organized clinic environment
  • Excellent patient communication
  • Wide range of foot and ankle treatments
  • Accepts multiple insurance plans

Cons

  • No weekend appointments
  • High demand; limited slots

Exceptional care and communication

“My experience and Dr. Scott Bassinger and his staff was excellent. I always felt supported and cared for each step of the way. Dr. Bassinger is a wonderful physician and surgeon who thoroughly explains the issue and options for resolution. I opted for surgery and the experience was wonderful. Post op visits were great and the support continued. Dr. Bassinger provided education regarding recovery expectations and answered any questions that I had. I am feeling great and I am so happy. Thank you so much!”

Honest consultation

“The staff was very friendly and helpful. Dr. Basinger was great. He spent quality time with me and was very honest about one of my issues. I would definitely recommend him to any and all who need a Podiatrist.”

Clinic-wise, everything runs smoothly—staff are welcoming, and the onsite X-rays and 3D scanning just make things streamlined. Patients we spoke with kept mentioning how approachable Dr. Molan is and how he takes time to explain options.

Warm and accommodating staff

“The staff here are so kind. It is refreshing to walk into a doctors office and be greeted by kind and radiant people when you are undergoing an injury. Great job!😇 They were so helpful to me when I got my time mixed up and were able to fit me in same day when I had driven 45 minutes away for the appointment, and to me that speaks volumes.”

Skilled surgical results

“Dr. Molan removed a bunion and repaired two toe joints. The outcome is absolutely amazing!! He gave me very thorough information before and after surgery. He is a great doctor, and I highly recommend him! The entire staff has been very caring. Dr. Milan’s assistant, Angela, puts you at ease and is very caring! I very highly recommend this practice!
