Everyone loves a good back rub (I mean, who doesn’t?), but not everyone knows how to give one. And I know we’ve all had those moments of aching shoulders, tense necks, and wishing someone nearby had magic hands and maybe a diploma to prove it.
That’s where massage schools come in—transforming regular folks into relaxation experts! We’re lucky that Charlotte’s got plenty of options, though finding the best places to learn the art of kneading isn’t as easy as it sounds.
So, we rolled up our sleeves and dove into campus vibes to figure out which schools really stand out. If you’re thinking about making relaxation your future, these Charlotte massage schools are the ones to know!
How much does it cost to enroll in a massage school in Charlotte?
In Charlotte, you can expect to pay between $6,000 and $11,000 to enroll in a massage therapy school. This typically covers tuition, textbooks, and supplies, though exact costs depend on the specific program and school you choose.
1. North Carolina School of Advanced Bodywork, Inc.

Address: 820 Tyvola Rd #203
Phone: +1 980 224 8449
Business Hours:
- Monday to Thursday – 9 AM to 3 PM, 5:30 PM to 10 PM
- Friday and Saturday – 10 AM to 4 PM
There’s a lot to like about the North Carolina School of Advanced Bodywork, but the sense of community is what came through most when we spoke to current students.
The instructors here bring years of practical experience, which totally shows in the way they run those hands-on labs and supervised practices. Class sizes are deliberately kept small, so students can expect actual feedback, not generic advice.
We also took a close look at their 652-hour curriculum, and it’s clear they aren’t skimping on the essentials. They have a real mix of clinical massage, anatomy, and actual time in a supervised clinic.
Flexible schedules are a big win, too—students can press pause on the rest of their busy lives, whether that means day, night, part-time, or full-time.
Finally, the tuition also covers everything, including your textbooks and supplies—and we love that they offer in-house payment plans. The only catch is that demand runs high and classes fill up quickly.
Great class
“Great experience! My massage had the perfect amount of pressure that I have been seeking. The massage therapist hit all of the right places and worked out the rough knots that I had. All at a great price!”

Surprising quality
“Best kept secret in Charlotte! I have had nothing but the very best from the students at the clinic open to the public for just $40 per massage. I continue to be surprised and thrilled with the bodywork they are learning that has help me with pain relief as I get ready to have a knee replacement.”

2. Holistic Harmony

Address: 4830 Monroe Rd., Unit B
Phone: +1 704 936 0591
Business Hours:
- Monday – 10:30 AM to 6 PM
- Wednesday and Sunday – 11 AM to 5 PM
- Thursday – 10:30 AM to 7 PM
- Friday – 10:30 AM to 5 PM
Liz, who runs Holistic Harmony solo, is not just an experienced massage therapist but is also an approved CE provider through NCBTMB and CE Broker for both SC and GA. This is a huge plus for pros needing legit continuing ed credits in those states.
What’s cool is the flexibility she offers: a rotating mix of sound bath sessions, private sound healing for groups or workplaces, and an array of bodywork options.
Whether everyone’s into Thai massage, modern or facial cupping, Gua Sha, or learning how to set proper energetic boundaries, there’s a way to personalize the sessions or even mix and match.
People we spoke to couldn’t get enough of Liz’s teaching style. More than one student commented on how her focus on smallgroups let them get detailed, hands-on feedback, and it clearly makes for a much deeper experience.
And because she keeps class sizes super tight, her availability is limited, and dates can get booked up pretty far in advance.
Exceptional skills
“My experience with Liz and her Thai massage was definitely above and beyond my expectations. She is amazing at her craft ( a therapist myself) and her ability to make you feel trust, comfort, and care goes beyond anything I can describe here. Very much worth it. I will for sure be back. I am so grateful to you.”

Memorable instruction
“What a fantastic experience! My husband booked us the “Learn Swedish Massage” class for our anniversary. Liz teaches the class in such a way that it is fun and easy to understand. We laughed, we relaxed, we learned that we’re not going to hurt each other by applying an intimidating amount of pressure (😆), it was just SUCH a good time. I’d love to take more classes with Liz in the future!”

3. Carolina School of Massage & Wellness Center

Address: 210 Adley Way, Greenville
Phone: +1 864 234 7191
Business Hours: Monday to Friday – 9 AM to 6 PM
Carolina School of Massage & Wellness Center really stands out if you want legit training and lots of hands-on practice.
This place is locally owned by a woman who’s been running things for two decades, and you can feel that experience throughout the program.
Students we met (and some grads we spoke with) kept saying that the 650-hour curriculum—anatomy and physiology and massage technique work—felt way more in-depth and “real world.”
A big plus is how much actual client experience you rack up: students spend a good chunk of the program giving supervised massages to the public as part of their clinicals, which really helps build confidence early on.
Classes run Monday to Friday with day or night options, so it’s possible to work around any schedule. The school also keeps things pretty straightforward about costs.
The only concern is that there’s no loan or grant assistance here. But, they do accept Veteran Education Benefits—definitely a huge help for those who qualify.
Welcoming atmosphere
“Such an amazing experience! From the moment you walk in they greet you and very friendly. The massage was incredible. I had Kaylee, student 8, if you’re booking online. She was very nice and gave an amazing massage. Asks if there’s any areas we want to target and just simply the best. Left feeling so relaxed!”
– Karla Aguillon, Google Review
Thorough education
“I had an amazing massage with Teisha! She educated me on my nervous systems and gave me tips on how I can manage stress outside of the massage. I felt comfortable and relaxed the entire time. The other staff there were very nice and helpful as well. I traveled from Charlotte (here for a trip) and it was worth it!! I would recommend and can’t wait to come back!”

4. Cornerstone Holistic Institute

Address: Serves Durham and nearby areas
Phone: +1 919 523 0799
Business Hours:
- Monday and Wednesday – 9 AM to 9 PM
- Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday – 9 AM to 2:30 PM
- Saturday – 9 AM to 5 PM
Cornerstone Holistic Institute offers tiny class sizes and has a real focus on making sure every student gets attention from instructors.
This isn’t some packed lecture hall. Think hands-on practice, group stretches, and a lot of questions flying because everyone’s comfortable.
We liked seeing how they blend multiple massage styles—Swedish, myofascial, and neuropathic—and get into all the anatomy, physiology, and business basics.
The nervous system focus is also embedded in the lessons, and grads say it gives them a leg up when they hit the workforce.
Schedules are flexible, so whether someone wants to hustle through in six months or balance life and learning over a year, they’re covered. Payment plans and built-in perks (books, uniforms, state board fees) made the whole process feel transparent, too!
Current LMTs rave about the continuing ed courses as well, especially online, and the institute’s NC Board approval is legit. However, we noticed replies to inquiries can be slow.
Guaranteed pass support
“Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed. She means what she says and guaranteed to pass with the material available. She is beyond great as an individual.”
– Kahdeshia James, Google Review
Supportive teaching
“I can’t say enough about Laurie and her school Cornerstone Holistic Institute! Being on the older side, I was nervous to go back to school especially something so hands-on. Laurie has a great way of teaching through a calm and relaxed setting. She’s so willing to work with anyone and creates a safe space. When I need my CE’s I know I’ll be going back to CHI!”

5. NC Massage School

Address: 20525 N Main St, Cornelius
Phone: +1 704 896 2636
Business Hours: Monday to Friday – 8 AM to 5 PM
NC Massage School’s class sizes max out at 18, and their 700-hour diploma covers way more than just the basics. There’s in-depth anatomy and physiology, clinical neuromuscular therapy, and hands-on practice with real clients.
That NMT certification is a solid perk also—students will come out ready for pain management, injury recovery, and all kinds of bodywork settings.
Furthermore, the instructors here are legit pros, some with years of clinical experience, so students actually get practical tips and guidance.
Flexibility is a big selling point here. Whether someone needs full-time or part-time, day or evening classes, it’s all about fitting education into real life.
Plus, the students we spoke to appreciated the career support and the peaceful vibe of the campus. In-house financing is available, too, and they keep things pretty transparent; all the details are up on their site or in the catalog.
On the flip side, make-up classes do cost extra, and weekends are a no-go.
Supportive instruction
“Attended NC Massage School for the 6 month program. One of the best decisions I ever made. All staff are exceptional and kind and work with you so that you can succeed. Our head teacher Jules is exceptionally kind and finds time in her busy schedule to see to the individual needs of every student. Thank you NC Massage school for one of the most transformative 6 months of my life🙏🙏”
– Vlad Bandarchyk, Google Review
Unmatched encouragement
“What can I say? During my time at NC Massage School has been absolutely amazing. From the beginning of applying to the school to graduating I’ve felt nothing but support from the owner Kristy and the program director Jules. I never felt this kind of support from any schools that I’ve been to and it’s honestly a breath of fresh air! This program has made me realized that I have found my calling and I’m forever thankful for that – so if this you’re looking for a sign to apply then here it is. NC Massage School has my heart forever! ❤️”
