We think it’s safe to say that Mathnasium is one of the best math tutoring centers in Charlotte. Look, they focus solely on math subjects, like algebra and geometry, so they basically target the understanding of numbers.
Their North Charlotte branch is also flexible when it comes to the students’ schedule, since they have online, in-person, and hybrid sessions. Plus, there’s no trouble finding a parking spot because there are plenty at their location.
What really stood out was the Mathnasium Method, which is their teaching approach. It follows an assessment-based learning plan to ensure every learner’s needs are met. Best of all, they offer programs made for both struggling and advanced learners.
And yes, their tutoring does work. The parents we spoke with noted the improvement in their children’s grades, but most importantly, the kids learned to enjoy math.
However, they’re not the cheapest with their monthly membership. On the flip side, they’re worth the money, considering they teach all math subjects in K-12, and don’t assign extra homework.

One of the reasons why Tutor Doctor caught our attention was their personalized learning plans and weekly reports. We found that focused guidance truly helps the students.
For example, their students have shown progress in their math skills and confidence in the subject. It’s not just about grades, which we appreciate.
They don’t focus on math alone, but their tutors are still highly qualified to teach. Each student is matched with the right tutor, one who can help with their learning gaps and build on their strengths.
It’s just that they don’t have on-site sessions, since they mostly focus on one-on-one virtual tutoring sessions. But they’re still flexible, since their math tutors are available for location-based sessions in public areas.
Incredibly, their willingness to get in touch with the student’s school teachers (with parents’ permission) gives them more insights into learning roadblocks. Their tutoring plan works well with school learning, which makes them a great help, overall.

Tutor Lion is unique. It’s a student-led initiative that works like this: a student tutor will teach your child.
You see, the student tutors have already studied the lessons, gone through the challenges, and have been taught by the same teachers. All these give them prior knowledge and experience, making them the best fit.
They even have insights into class and extracurricular strategies. Like a mentor, but someone closer to the learner’s age, so kids can feel more at ease.
It’s also incredible that a student-led tutoring spot in Charlotte offers various programs, including math, of course. They mainly focus on competitive math, which gives the learners more practice, should they decide to join competitions.
The only bump in the road is an obvious one: the lack of adult tutors with experience handling difficult learners. But all in all, we find this a brilliant initiative that comes with a bonus: prices are more affordable because their tutors are still in school.

4. Teacher On The Go

We appreciate a math tutoring service that prioritizes the student’s schedule, which is what Teacher On The Go is. They stick to online tutoring sessions for K-12 students, which are more flexible since there’s no need to commute anywhere.
You simply need a mobile device, which is easy enough, because families already have this. But the lack of face-to-face sessions makes their services a bit limited, especially since some students prefer face-to-face interaction.
The good thing is, their students have shown improvement in their math skills, even with just virtual sessions. Many have even become more confident when answering math questions, which is incredible.
It’s also worth noting that their tutoring sessions don’t stop once the school year ends. Learners can join summer tutoring to keep the progress running.
Plus, they’re more accessible because of their prices. They start at $47 plus tax for an hour’s session once a week, which is one of the most affordable we’ve seen in Charlotte.

The self-paced learning of Kumon fosters confidence and allows the students to think on their own, and we love that here. It’s never too late to instill discipline and problem-solving, no?
Basically, students receive worksheets, which they answer at the tutoring center and at home. The progress never stops, but the daily homework, although requiring only 30 minutes or less, can be tough when the student is packed with schoolwork.
The daily math practice can sharpen a learner’s skills, though. But their services are limited to math and reading worksheets, so don’t expect homework help and test preparation.
Still, they remain flexible by offering in-center and online math sessions, where students can complete their worksheets on a tablet. Plus, parents receive progress updates, ensuring they’re kept in the loop.
This tutoring center might not be for everyone in Charlotte, but the structured environment builds foundational skills, as mentioned by the parents we spoke with. They mostly appreciated how it taught their kids consistency and self-discipline.
