We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Service Quality: We picked companies with International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certified experts who possess a deep understanding of local tree biology. This supports long-term tree health, not quick fixes.

Convenience: We looked closely at teams offering flexible scheduling options, emergency support, and straightforward consultations. Having access to fast assistance makes managing your property completely hassle-free.

Value and Pricing: Our team evaluated how well each business aligns its rates with standard local averages for trimming and removals. We made sure they provide fair, transparent pricing structures without hidden fees.

Reviews and Reputation: We examined local feedback and safety records to confirm whether they consistently deliver on their promises. Prioritizing groups with stellar track records helps guarantee you’re protected during complex jobs.

Finding the right team to care for your yard can feel like a guessing game, especially when massive oaks or delicate dogwoods need some serious attention. Trees add so much value and beauty, so leaving them in the hands of certified experts is a total must.

Address: 8821 Houston Ridge Rd

Contact: 704-989-6270 | [email protected]

Hours: 24/7

Justin’s Tree Service brings in a tight-knit family approach to professional tree care. And that includes 24/7 services, ideal when you’re dealing with a dangerous hanging limb after a nasty storm.

Their office even stays on top of communications around the clock, so you never get left hanging.

They also stand out for having ISA-certified arborists who prioritize a tree-first philosophy, treating removal as an absolute last resort. They even deploy specialized ground protection mats to ensure their heavy machinery never tears up your lawn.

But you should know they lack a direct online booking calendar, so you have to call or text to set things up. Also, they don’t have a list of advanced plant health care treatments for complex soil work.

Pros

  • Certified arborist expertise
  •
  • Tree-first philosophy
  • Ground protection mats are used

Cons

  •
  • No instant online booking

Professional and accommodating tree removal

Justin’s Tree Service was working a huge job at a neighbor’s house. I’ve been having a problem lately getting an arborist to my property, getting delays one – two weeks and even removing the tree from my property was taking an additional one – two weeks. I called Justin‘s, the crew drove by the same day and decided they could quickly and easily remove it. All six guys were very professional and accommodating. They even moved a heavy birdbath (for me) into the spot where the tree had been removed. I highly recommend!

Transformed our yard and property

Justin’s team removed nine huge pine trees in our yard and transformed our property to a much more pleasant environment.

The team was very professional and respectful and cleaned up after the job. They brought in a crane and removed all of the trees without causing any damage. I highly recommend Justin’s Tree Service.

We are very pleased and we’ll be using them for all our tree services going forward.

2. Bartlett Tree Experts

Website: https://www.bartlett.com/

Address: 14627 Youngblood Road

Contact: 704-588-3713 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Bartlett Tree Experts handles mystery tree diseases with deep scientific analysis by using their very own research laboratories. This way, they can run soil samples and diagnose plant issues with absolute accuracy.

A friend of ours hired them last season to look at a dying cypress, and the arborist pinpointed the exact pest within minutes.

For instance, they focus heavily on species like crepe myrtles that thrive around the region. Plus, their local branch is fully equipped with an extensive team to manage large commercial setups or residential lawns safely.

However, the office operates strictly on weekdays, making weekend scheduling tough. Their highly scientific approach might also feel a bit overkill, budget-wise, if you just want a quick, cheap tree cut down.

Pros

  • Research lab backing
  •
  • Specializes in Carolina trees
  • Highly scientific approach

Cons

  • No weekend office hours
  • Expensive for simple jobs

Knowledgeable and honest arborist service

Bartlett’s arborist was a very knowledgeable and honest professional. He discussed the most cost efficient and effective process for pruning several overgrown Junipers to maintain their beauty and life expectancy. He also discovered premature diseased Crêpe Myrtles and provided recommendations for scheduling and treatment.

The Individual pruning the Junipers was thorough and performed an excellent job. We completed an inspection and he cleaned the entire area prior to leaving.

Flawless process and great service

The entire process for getting our damaged trees addresses was flawless. The appointment was easy to schedule, the arborist arrived as planned. He explained the most cost effective solution. The safety manager arrived on time and explained the necessary work. The crew came at the appointment time and left the yard in better condition than when they arrived. We believe that we received great service for a fair price. Bartlett is a first class company.

Hours: Monday-Friday 7:30 AM-5:00 PM

Heartwood Tree Care became the first company in North Carolina to secure Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) accreditation. This shows their commitment to proper tree management, balancing local experience with the highest possible industry standards.

They offer comprehensive services, from root revitalization to specialized tree preservation plans that protect root zones during home construction. They even provide around-the-clock emergency support when southern weather threatens your property.

If a tree can’t be saved, they serve as a reliable tree removal service to clear the hazard safely while respecting local municipal ordinances.

Just keep in mind that their flexible financing options are entirely subject to credit approval, so your low monthly payments are not automatically guaranteed.

Also, their heavy emphasis on local tree preservation laws means they might not be the best fit if you want to clear-cut healthy green spaces.

Pros

  • Pioneer TCIA accreditation status
  •
  • Specialized root preservation plans
  • Around-the-clock emergency assistance

Cons

  •
  • Strict tree preservation focus

Professional and masterfully crafted work

I recently had a situation at my home involving a problematic tree and wasn’t sure what steps to take. John S. from Heartwood came out within a few days, assessed the situation, and walked me through my options. He recommended turning the tree into a nature pole, since it needed to come down anyway—and I thought that was a fantastic idea.

If you ever need an arborist, I highly recommend Heartwood. Their pricing is fair, and their team is made up of true professionals who have clearly mastered their craft. Thank you, Heartwood!

Phenomenal job and immaculate cleanup

Our neighbor recommended Heartwood and we had such an amazing experience! We wanted an Arborist, so Donovan came out and created a very specific and reasonable proposal. Then the “Blue Crew” came out and did a phenomenal job! Cristino and I walked the site and discussed things as the work progressed. He and Makhi and Darien were kind, respectful, and worked so hard throughout the day. Our yard was not harmed and clean-up was absolutely immaculate. We couldn’t have been more impressed and we will for sure call this crew back for future work! Way to set yourselves apart Heartwood!

Website: https://aaatrees.net/

Address: 8120 England St

Contact: 704-366-1134

Hours: 24/7

Getting a fair assessment on a leaning tree shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg before the actual work even begins.

AAA Tree Experts sends out an ISA-certified arborist to provide free risk assessments and no-obligation estimates on your property.

When we spoke directly with their team about a concerning oak branch, they walked us through their specialized deep-root fertilization process. This approach delivers essential nutrients to trees by improving the soil structure.

They also bring more than two decades of local experience to the table, ensuring they know every regional climate quirk and disease. Plus, they also focus deeply on environmentally friendly plant health care to keep your landscape looking vibrant.

The thing is, their service area is strictly limited to specific nearby towns. On top of that, you still have to handle the permit legwork and look over complex Homeowners Association (HOA) guidelines yourself.

Pros

  • Certified arborist staff members
  •
  • Free home risk assessments
  • Eco-friendly plant health care

Cons

  • Limited regional service area
  • Property owner handles permit legwork

Kind, prompt, and excellent communication

Worked with Mark over at AAA Tree Experts for an inspection of some trees on my property. He was kind, prompt, and had excellent communication. Would highly recommend the AAA team for any of your arborist or tree trimming needs!

Quick response and professional advice

Excellent and quick response (less than 24 hours) to my initial contact.  I asked to see an arborist regarding some issues with a few of my Japanese maples. An arborist came out within a week and walked my property and offered great advice. He was very professional and reassuring! There was not a charge for this service!  Top notch service.

5. Schneider Tree Care

Website: https://schneidertree.com/

Address: 231 Tanner Drive, Taylors

Contact: 864-244-3088

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Schneider Tree Care brings over 25 years of experience to local yards, offering everything from pest control to emergency storm response. Even better, their fully insured crew follows a strict culture of safety.

For instance, they’ll work directly with your insurance provider to handle complex storm claims. They also prioritize plant health care by using tailored soil fertilization to nourish ailing canopies rather than just chopping them down.

But you should double-check the fine print because their TCIA accreditation currently applies only to their corporate office down in South Carolina, not the local branch.

You should also know that they currently don’t offer their bulk hardwood mulch delivery service to clients inside the Charlotte market.

Pros

  • Insured and certified climbers
  • Emergency storm response
  • Focus on preventative healthcare
  • Strong customer accountability policies

Cons

  • Local branch lacks accreditation
  • No mulch services available in Charlotte

Fast and skilled emergency service

AMAZING EMERGENCY TREE SERVICE was provided by Schneider Tree Care company. At 5pm, we had an EMERGENCY because a three-story tree split over our house , held up by another tree. Schneider was called and within a half hour their arborist arrived. He determined that immediate relief was needed from the leaning weight to prevent it from falling A reasonable quote was given. We approved. Within another hour, a 60-ton crane arrived with powerful lights and with great skill, piece by piece the tree was weight lessened. They were superior!

Professional and impressive tree removal

I was extremely impressed with the work Schneider did, the Sales Arborist and the overall team that took down multiple trees and ground up a tree stump and did an awesome job! They all were very professional, courteous and most of all did exactly what I ask them to do. I will gladly employ their services in the future if the need arises.
