Beautiful table, chair & antique dresser restoration
Gary Forte did a beautiful job on our table and chairs, and we couldn’t be more pleased. He and his wife picked up and returned the furniture so we didn’t need to worry about damage in transit. We also showed him our antique dresser from the late 19th century, and he agreed to take that as well. We were amazed at the restoration. It is absolutely beautiful. He also gave us a bit of history about the piece. He is truly an artist.

Dining set restored from broken to like new
Gary is amazing! He managed to beautifully restore a dining room set that has been passed down for years. It was broken, scratched, and many of the chairs were practically unusable. Now it looks beautiful and like new. I don’t know how he did it, but he is a miracle worker when it comes to repair and restoration of wood furniture! I would highly recommend him and will use him in the future!!

Woodcycle Refinishing is on our list for blending traditional craftsmanship with modern precision. This allows them to upgrade dated furniture, even those that require classic techniques.
They can restore both antique items and modern pieces. Plus, they use top-tier stains and paints to ensure your finishes stay flawless for years.
Another advantage is that they provide a cost-effective alternative to purchasing new furniture. They offer interior woodwork, in case your furniture looks a little too broken and needs serious mending.
One downside is that you can’t get an immediate standardized estimate. You have to supply specific project details or allow an assessment before they provide a firm quote.
3. McSwain’s Handcrafted Furniture Inc

Website: https://www.mcswains.com/
Address: 8608 Lawyers Rd
Contact: 704-545-4519 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM | Saturday, 9:00 AM – 12:00 AM
McSwain’s Handcrafted Furniture Inc. has been a family-owned operation since 1960, passing down artistic master craftsmanship through three generations. Their deep roots in the community are one of the reasons they’re trusted by locals.
They specialize in old-world craftsmanship and techniques like French polishing and gold-leaf repair, making them well-suited for restoring delicate antiques and high-value pieces with intricate finishes.
The crew can even enlarge existing beds or extend dining tables if you want to adapt older pieces to modern needs. Plus, their specialty repairs cover re-caning and replacing hand-tooled leather tops.
But since their services lean heavily toward older heirlooms rather than quick modern fixes, they might not be the best fit for basic contemporary furniture touch-ups.
4. Lewis Woodworking

Hours: By appointment
We like Lewis Woodworking for their careful process. They strip furniture by hand to avoid the damage often caused by harsh chemicals, a hands-on approach that ensures even the most fragile items receive proper care.
They also tackle a wide variety of tasks, such as fabricating missing parts and rebuilding dismantled cabinets. They even have extensive experience working with diverse antiques, like roll-top desks and curved-glass china.
More importantly, they protect your investment. They offer a one-year guarantee on their woodwork, giving you solid reassurance on all refinishing jobs.
But you do need to plan your schedule since all repair work requires an appointment. Also, they don’t automatically provide pickup services, so you must request transportation or drop the items off yourself.
5. NC Craft Home

Areas Served: Charlotte and surrounding areas
Contact: 518-222-2800 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday-Sunday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
NC Craft Home goes far beyond standard fixes, which is one of the reasons we chose them. They design massive custom media walls and full built-in cabinetry from scratch, making them ideal for renovations.
As for their restoration work, they handle extensive jobs, like structural reinforcement and precise color matching for your favorite pieces. The team also works comfortably with solid wood and modern factory-made items.
They even offer great flexibility by performing minor jobs on-site or moving extensive projects to their workshop. This adaptability makes them a fantastic choice for both minor living room updates and full dining set transformations.
One thing to consider is their relatively limited documented experience, so they may not be the first choice for clients looking to restore valuable or delicate heirloom pieces.

Clean and effective dining chair repairs
I used Pavel to restore six dining room chairs. One chair had a loosened arm rest. All of them had bolts that kept fallen out of the bottom of the seats. He repaired each issue. He did an excellent job. To add on, he did a very clean job! I really appreciate that.
