We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Gym: First, we assessed the gyms to see if they were spacious, well-maintained, and nurtured a community-centric environment.

Instructors: Next, we wanted to include gyms that featured experienced, friendly, and supportive instructors.

Culture: Our choices favoured those that offered family-friendly, beginner-friendly, and judgment-free cultures.

Classes: We also examined the variety and quality of their classes.

Accessibility: We considered their schedules, locations, and whether they offered online sessions.

Fees: Lastly, we considered their fees to see whether they were transparent and offered good value for money.

When I shared with my friends that my New Year’s resolution was to be more mindful, they immediately asked me to join in on one of their yoga classes (yoga class charlotte). Fresh out of ideas, I immediately said yes—big mistake.

I contorted my limbs in ways I didn’t even know were possible, and after one session, I knew it was over—but it had a silver lining.

Right across the studio was a sound of numerous thuds hitting mitts and bags, so I went to take a look and fell in love with Muay Thai.

Unfortunately, they were only accepting the elite of the elite, so I asked my team for help to find the Muay Thai gyms in Charlotte that were more on my level.

Since then, I’ve been bouncing around gyms to see which ones are the best, and I’ve shared them below, so keep on reading!

What is the average cost of enrolling in Muay Thai gyms in Charlotte?

The average cost of enrolling in Muay Thai gyms in Charlotte ranges from $100 to $250 or more per month, depending on their facilities, affiliated instructors, class types, etc.

We also appreciate Evermore Thai Boxing Club for its beginner-friendliness, emphasizing that no prior experience or equipment is needed to join the classes.

Furthermore, the onboarding process has a low barrier to entry, allowing new students to work their way up from beginner to intermediate, and so on. It’s also helpful that they offer free initial classes to help students assess the gym’s vibe.

Welcoming, motivating, and pushes you

“I started training Muay Thai here a little over three months ago, and I’m honestly hooked. The environment is welcoming, motivating, and pushes you to improve every class. The coaching is excellent—my coach really takes the time to break down techniques and make sure everyone is learning and getting better. You can tell he genuinely cares about his students and their progress. I’ve learned a ton in a short amount of time and look forward to every class. Great gym, great people, and an awesome coach.”

I strongly recommend this gym

“I recently moved here and have been doing Muay Thai for a long time. I was just looking for a gym close to my house, and I ended up finding an amazing place to train. The coach is excellent, and the atmosphere is great. It is full of very good fighters who push you to improve. If you are thinking about starting martial arts, or if you already train and are looking for good sparring, I strongly recommend this gym. You will not regret it.”

Top Martial Arts is one of the best options for beginners due to its well-structured programs that promote gradual learning.

Instead of other gyms that follow a sink-or-swim approach, this gym values steady progress, which is attributed to its coaches.

The coaches at TMA Charlotte are praised for their welcoming and supportive vibe, catering to Muay Thai beginners with different goals.

Clients usually enrol in the gym for either finding a new hobby or training seriously, both of which the coaches are happy to assist with.

TMA Charlotte is also one of the most well-equipped Muay Thai gyms in the city, offering separate areas for both striking and grappling. It’s even spacious enough to teach multiple students at a time, while keeping the environment tightly-knit.

Plus, we appreciate the flexibility of their schedules, being open seven days a week. However, the schedules may vary since other disciplines are being taught throughout the week.

Even though it’s not strictly a Muay Thai gym, we still want to include Fit to Fight Charlotte because of its well-rounded learning experience.

We appreciate their Muay Thai programs’ depth, as they tackle several techniques, from striking to grappling, elbows, and clinching. The gym is also equipped for these lessons by featuring a spacious grappling mat and a variety of pads and mitts.

However, due to its wide variety of practices that offer cross-training opportunities, the gym often gets really packed.

Regardless, students still shared how they immediately felt comfortable in the gym during the free introductory sessions due to the strong sense of community. They added that both the students and teachers are supportive and offer constructive criticisms.

The gym also caters to Muay Thai students of all levels, from beginners to intermediate and so on. This allows for a more streamlined progression system that doesn’t make learning feel stagnant.

Hayastan MMA Charlotte is a no-brainer inclusion because of its pedigree. The gym has a long history of honing active fighters worldwide, which is attributed to the gym’s competitive and real-world pressure approach to training.

That said, some beginners may be overwhelmed by this approach, but our interviewees noted that they immediately adapted to the culture thanks to the friendly students and teachers.

It also helps that the gym offers a separate path for beginners to avoid a steep learning curve.

We like how the coaches are able to pay close attention to each student, allowing them to feel genuinely cared for. Students described how their progress was closely watched and that they were always given pointers to improve their weak points.

Each curriculum is extremely well-rounded as well, since the classes lean more toward mixed martial arts rather than just Muay Thai. It tackles a wide variety of techniques, such as striking and grappling, that cross between different disciplines.

Pros

  • Credible background
  • Hands-on and in-depth coaching
  • Well-rounded learning experience
  • Caters to both beginners and competition-level players
  • Healthy supportive environment

Cons

  • Beginners may be overwhelmed

Will lead you in the right direction

“Best MMA school in Charlotte! Focuses on all the arts from boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai to BJJ, judo, and wrestling. The Gokor grappling system is one of the best in the world. There’s a lot of cage panels and a full octagon to train in as well. This is a great school for beginners and advanced fighters as well. Coach Kevin Forant, Coach Tony Tan, and Coach Louis Grady are very well known in the MMA community, and they will lead you in the right direction if you decide to make MMA your career!”
