We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Reputation - We looked for salons with glowing reviews, happy repeat customers, and solid recommendations from local pet parents.

Facilities - We made sure the grooming spaces were sparkling clean, well-organized, and set up for both safety and comfort.

Services Offered - We picked salons with a wide menu of services—from basic baths to breed-specific cuts, teeth cleaning, and a little extra pampering for pups and kitties.

Pet Care - We focused on groomers who show real love for animals, use gentle handling techniques, and create a stress-free experience for every furry request.

Every pet deserves to look their best, and who wouldn’t agree? While I wish I could master the art of a perfect bath at home, those grooming pros just have magic hands.

Trust me, I know the struggle of searching for a spot that won’t freak out your pup or break the bank. There are so many places, and sometimes picking one feels like you need a pet detective.

But here’s the fun part: Charlotte’s got some seriously awesome salons that know how to pamper your furry buddy. If you’re ready to give your pet that extra wag in their tail, check out our go-to grooming salons in town!

How much do grooming services cost in Charlotte?

In Charlotte, grooming services generally start at around $22 for a basic bath for smaller dogs and go up to $130 for full-service grooming of larger breeds. Prices may vary depending on the dog’s size, coat type, and specific services requested.

With nearly 20 years under their belt, the Dog Salon’s service list reads like a doggy day spa menu. They have here oatmeal baths for itchy types, medicated washes for pups with allergies, and more specialty shampoos than we even knew existed.

We took full advantage of their 2-hour express option, which is honestly a lifesaver! Some returning clients, especially those juggling work and vet appointments, actually loved it too!

There’s even a Senior Spa upgrade with CBD goodies for the silver-muzzled set. What really impressed us, though, was the add-ons: quiet nail dremeling, paw balm, and custom colors (neon ears, anyone?).

They even have those little finishing touches, like bows or bandanas, that somehow stick around for days! Value-wise, everything’s upfront: prices by size and coat, detailed info on what each package includes, and the option to add extras if needed.

The only snag is the kennel situation; some dogs will wait in crates, so it’s worth asking how they handle nervous types.

Pros

  • Two decades of experience
  • Wide service menu
  • Custom shampoo options
  • 2-hour express service
  • Add-on upgrades

Cons

  • Not kennel-free

“Will to the rescue once again 😊  I was nervous about getting my baby Chino a true shave because he had only received mini grooming. Omg, when I say I am so pleased with the results. I showed Will a picture of the cut I wanted and he executed. Thank you to everyone at The Dog Salon ❤️❤️ 1st photo what I requested, 2nd and 3rd after the cut, 4th before the cut.”

Caring service

“The only place I’ve taken my dog for the last three years. They consistently do a great job and my dog loves going here. He’s an old temperamental boy but always comes out with his tail wagging and I know they treat him well and are patient with him! Everyone is always so kind and they have great communication. Could not recommend more!”

QC Canine Design Pet Spa is a boutique studio that is all about upping the game for small dogs—think tailored attention, specialty products, and a vibe that feels genuinely calming for the pups (and, honestly, for us too).

The focus here is on quality over quantity. They only take in dogs 30 pounds and under, which means the staff has the time to really get to know each client, down to favorite treats or quirky haircut preferences.

Clients waiting for their appointments can also lounge in a spacious open area rather than stress out in cramped crates.

We also learned that QC Canine Design’s team stays sharp with the latest grooming techniques and breed–specific styles.

They also make a big deal about only using Showine professional grooming products. This is something most clients appreciated, saying it has resulted in their pets having healthier skin and luxurious coats.

One thing to note, however, is that big dogs aren’t on the guest list, so it’s strictly a small pup zone.

Pros

  • Small dog specialists
  • Showline products
  • Breed-specific styling
  • Calming lounge area
  • Up-to-date techniques

Cons

  • Appointment only
  • Small dogs only

Calm environment

“Another 10/10 groom. Timing, responsiveness, communication, updates, price. It’s such a calm space for my pup. It’s small, boutique feel: and they keep it that way with the amount of pups. My pup never leaves there stressed! They take very, very good care of her and I never worry about leaving her to get groomed!”

Easy booking

“I’ve been taking Seamus to QC Canine Design for the last 9 years and he and I love them! It is very easy to schedule appointments via text, and he returns sharp, happy, and full of energy! I highly recommend!”

Grateful Pets Grooming & Boarding really stands out in Charlotte for pet parents who want a one-stop shop.

With five convenient locations stretched across the city and surrounding areas, they make it super easy to access daycare, boarding, and even a pet store.

We noticed that their facilities have a mix of private holding spaces for all sizes and substantial, enclosed play areas that give pups room to roam. The staff is big on interaction and TLC!

Because of this, dogs get plenty of exercise and attention during their stay, whether they’re just here for a trim or hanging out for the day. On the grooming side, expect that it includes ear cleaning, nail buffs, de-shedding treatments, and more.

They’re also transparent about package details and even offer seasonal specials, so there’s real value for money. If there’s one hitch, it’s that grooming appointments don’t always start right on time, so patience can sometimes be needed.

Pros

  • Multiple locations
  • All-in-one services
  • Accessory store
  • Spacious play areas
  • Clean facilities
  • Seasonal specials

Cons

  • Delayed grooming sessions

Friendly staff

“Bella and I want to give a S/O to grateful pets. Thank you Krista for grooming Bella. Thank you for the staff who were very friendly. Krista was very patient with Bella and she did a wonderful job of not only caring for her but keeping Bella calm. 10/10 recommend and we will be going back soon”

“10 out of 10 recommend. My ragdoll had some pretty bad matting and refuses to let me brush her. This is her first grooming and I was petrified that she would be shaved bald! She got a beautiful lion cut and bath. Will be definitely taking Lucy here for regular grooming to avoid having her shaved again. Def take your kitty here!! Here are some before (super long hair of course) and after pics. Close up of the cut too.”

Pet Paradise Charlotte earns its spot as one of the most popular grooming and pet care spots in the area.

The experience here starts with their super easy-to-use app, which lets the client schedule grooming (or other services like boarding, day camp, vet visits, and training),

Plus, they handle both dog and cat grooming, offering soothing spa baths and trims to full deshedding and dematting. They even have plenty of add-ons like blueberry facials or premium shampoos for those wanting to splurge.

Cat parents appreciate the welcoming setup too—especially since it’s rare to find a place in Charlotte that really gets cats. Furthermore, the resort (as they call it) gives off a clean, open, and professional feel!

Something we appreciated the most is the loyalty program, Furever Loyal, which actually gives back for every dollar spent. Regulars say it adds up fast and feels like a legit perk rather than a gimmick.

However, with so many local customers and such a range of services, there’s sometimes a longer wait for appointments.

Pros

  • Easy online booking
  • Cat and dog grooming
  • All-in-one services
  • Loyal rewards program
  • Spa package options

Cons

  • Long wait times

Exceptional care

“This is THE BEST boarding/daycare/grooming place in and around Charlotte! They always take amazing care of our babies. Recently had their first grooming appointment during their stay and WOW my babies were looking so clean and bright when we picked them up! Thanks guys! Yall are the best! Captain and Major were happy as always!”

Comprehensive pet services

“We absolutely love pet paradise and have been coming here for both veterinary services and boarding since our fur baby was just 5 weeks old. Our love for pet paradise is only stronger 5 years later! We are very overprotective when it comes to his wellbeing and know that he is in the best hands when he is at pet paradise and that we can go on vacation with ease. We will never take him anywhere else and always recommend it to everyone with a pet in need of these services!”

The whole Whiskers Dog Spa is cage-free, which makes a huge difference—dogs can actually mingle, hang out, and unwind instead of being crated up while they wait. We’ve noted a lot of repeat clients because the vibe is so much more low-key and stress-free.

Their staff is another plus: almost everyone is certified in dog CPR and first aid, meaning pets are in good hands if anything unexpected comes up.

In terms of packages, whether you’re after a basic bath, a full-body groom, a unique treatment like a Dead Sea mud bath, or nail painting, they can do it. To add, they only use premium, USA-made shampoos and products, which regulars say make their pups look and feel noticeably better.

Their curbside drop-off/pickup is another thing we commend—perfect for convenience! If there’s any complaint, it’s that sometimes getting through on the phone can be hit or miss.

A couple of clients even said returning calls for pickups or basic questions can take longer.

Pros

  • Cage-free environment
  • Social/play areas
  • Certified staff safety
  • Curbside convenience
  • Premium products

Cons

  • Slow phone response

Consistent care

“We’ve been taking our furry baby here for 5 years and have always been very happy. The staff is kind, caring, and does a great job every time. Our dog always comes back happy and well-groomed. Highly recommend!”

Accommodating staff

“They have always done a wonderful job on our toy poodle Bailey, he loves going to see them at whiskers! The staff is super friendly and accompdating as well”
