I vividly remember when our grade first started having music classes and we got to choose our instruments. I wasted no time ticking the piano box, giddy for my first lesson. I fumbled over ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star’ while my teacher guided me patiently.
And while I’d love to say I never stopped, life got busy, and I eventually set it aside, but I recently picked it up again. While my playing isn’t perfect yet, just being able to get through the tune gave me that same thrill of learning all over again.
Whether you’re starting fresh or brushing up on old skills like me, the right piano lessons can make all the difference. We’ve done the digging–exploring teaching methods, lesson plans, styles, and rates–to bring you the best piano classes in Oklahoma City. Read on!

Business hours:
- Monday to Friday – 12 to 8 pm

Our favorite thing about Musician in Motion is how accessible their lessons are. Students can choose whatever works best for them–in-studio classes or convenient at-home lessons.
They also offer flexible learning formats, both one-on-one instruction for more serious learners who prefer custom pacing and group lessons for those who prefer a more social experience.
With 10 piano teachers on their team, students have a good range of instructors with different teaching styles and specialties to choose from.
The best part? They offer a $10 trail for any instrument or class, making it perfect for those just dipping their toes in. And if the first lesson isn’t what you expected, they also offer a money-back guarantee.
And if you’re interested in dabbling in other instruments, they also offer lessons in guitar, drums, and ukulele, to name a few. That said, their services are primarily focused on South Charlotte and nearby areas, including Pineville, Waxhaw, Fort Mill, Indian Land, and Weddington.
Patient, inspiring, and truly talented
“We’ve been coming to Musicians in Motion for several years and always feel so welcomed. Mrs. Arpine is an incredible piano teacher—patient, inspiring, and truly talented. 2. Bold Music of Charlotte

Address:
Contact: +1 980-224-2636
Business hours: Daily – 8:30 am to 9 pm
What we love most about Bold Music Charlotte is their Studio Recording Camp. It’s a musician’s dream come true. Students get to learn and have hands-on experience in recording, production, engineering, and songwriting.
The best part? Their lessons are fast-paced, so students will have a professionally recorded song by the end of the week.
That said, you can already tell that they’re not your typical music school. In fact, they skip the stuffy recitals. Instead, Bold Music does gig nights, giving students the chance to show off their talents.
While they do offer online virtual lessons for convenience, students can gain the full benefit of the in-studio experience, enjoying the energy of making music live.
The only downside? They don’t offer single trial lessons, so students will have to avail of their membership plans, which starts at $278 per month, which may feel daunting and can be a steep commitment for some.
Their instructors really go the extra mile
“Bold Music is fantastic! Their instructors really go the extra mile to engage with your children and teach them such an excellent skill at their individual level. We were hesitant at first to start lessons as early as did (he’s 3.5) but now I am blown away by how much he is learning and how much he stays engaged and enjoys the lessons!”
We love Bold Music
“We love Bold Music. My 10yr old has been taking lesson for almost a year now and love that Mr Bryan comes to our house. It has made scheduling so much easier. She has really learned a lot in the little time she has been playing and her confidence has soared. We loved their gig night that show cases their young musicians.”
3. Jordan Kvanvig Piano Studio

Address: 3626 Country Club Dr
Contact: +1 704-780-4714 or [email protected]
Business hours: Monday to Friday – 3 to 9 pm
Jordan Kvanvig has been playing the piano since the age of nine, with most of his life dedicated to music. Piano isn’t just a pastime for him; he earned a degree in Piano Performance, summa cum laude, from UNC.
Apart from that, he has served as a staff accompanist at UNC’s dance department and is now the pianist at the Cannon School. Today, he performs as a solo pianist, freelance accompanist, and collaborator with the Charlotte Symphony and Davidson College Jazz Ensemble.
Despite his serious credentials, he’s a patient and supportive teacher who knows how to motivate while keeping lessons fun.
But here’s the hitch: Jordan’s rates are on the higher end at $90 per hour for regular lessons, $155 monthly for accelerated lessons, and starting at $255 monthly for private lessons.
Another thing to keep in mind is that, as a one-man operation, scheduling can be tricky. Even so, we appreciate how easy he is to coordinate with, offering flexible scheduling that works well for adult students.
His approach is both challenging and supportive
“We’ve been working with Jordan Kvanvig at his Piano Studio for several years, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the progress my son has made! Jordan is not only a fantastic teacher but also a true professional. He’s incredibly patient, and he knows just how to motivate my son to push himself while still making lessons enjoyable. His approach is both challenging and supportive, and my son’s skills have improved dramatically over time.
Beyond his teaching ability, Jordan is easy to work with and genuinely a nice guy, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for every lesson. If you’re looking for a piano teacher who will help your child grow both musically and personally, I highly recommend Jordan Kvanvig Piano Studio!”
Best piano teacher for anyone at all levels
“Jordan is the best piano teacher for anyone at all levels. Not only is he incredibly professional but very patient and works hard to make sure that you are learning and enjoying the lesson. As a beginner, I never thought I would ever play a piece but working with Jordan has given me the confidence and skills to play.”

Address: 10130 Perimeter Pkwy
Contact: +1 980-475-7885
Business hours: Monday to Friday – 2 pm to 9 pm
Students who love music theory and history will especially appreciate lessons with Dr. Liz. With over 18 years of piano experience, two doctorates, and 22 published books to her name, she brings plenty of expertise and insight to every session.
Dr. Liz offers both private in-person and online lessons, making her a great choice for students looking to seriously hone their skills. But for students who prefer taking their time, we appreciate the flexibility of her Lizzie Piano Method, allowing for self-paced lessons.
Regardless of format, we like that Dr. Liz offers a wealth of books and learning resources, from flashcards to practice guides that students can purchase.
The only caveat? Liz’s Lessons are only on weekdays starting at 2 p.m. The good news? Her sessions run until 9 p.m., giving students plenty of options to schedule around school or work.
Since she runs things solo, scheduling can be a little tricky, but Dr. Liz is dedicated to her students and it usually doesn’t take long to hear back.
Warm, patient, and incredibly supportive
“We feel so lucky to have found Liz! My 7-year-old daughter has been taking piano lessons with her for about six months now, and the growth we’ve seen—both musically and personally—has been incredible. Liz is warm, patient, and incredibly supportive, creating a space where my daughter feels safe to learn, try new things, and truly enjoy the process.
Not only has she already learned several songs, but she’s also developed a new level of confidence that shines beyond just piano. Liz has a special gift for connecting with young learners—she meets them where they are, celebrates their progress, and makes learning music something to look forward to each week.
If you’re looking for a teacher who is as encouraging as she is talented, I couldn’t recommend Liz more highly. She’s made such a positive impact on our lives, and I’m so grateful for the joy she’s brought to our daughter’s musical journey.”
Incredible teaching ability
“I’m so happy we started my son in lessons with Liz well over 2 years ago…one of the best things we could have done for him!!! Her patience, instruction, attention to detail and incredible teaching ability is really appreciated!! My son has grown so quickly in his ability to play and read music and he listens to Liz (HUGE win!!!). I HIGHLY recommend Liz to anyone interested in learning to play and enjoy piano!!”
