My mom wanted a photoshoot for her 60th birthday, and somehow decided I should be the photographer. The only problem is I’m notoriously the worst one in the friend group at taking photos, and there was no way I was risking a milestone like that.
So instead, my team and I reviewed the best photography studios in Charlotte—read on to find the one that fits your needs, style, preferences, and budget.
How much does a photography session cost in Charlotte?
Photography sessions in Charlotte can cost around $150 to $500 for standard shoots, depending on the photographer’s experience and session length. High-end or specialized sessions like weddings or commercial work can cost $1,000 and up.
1. 1X Studios Charlotte, NC – Photography Studio & Venue Rental

Address: 8118 Statesville Rd Unit C
Phone: +1 704-733-9212
Business hours:
- Wednesday to Thursday: 1 PM – 7 PM
- Friday to Sunday: 1 PM – 5 PM
What we love most about 1X Studios Charlotte is how it’s essentially a blank canvas where you can bring your concept and vision to life using props, lighting, and layout.
That said, the studio has features like a cyclorama wall, LED tunnel, glass platform, and themed setups, helping you create completely different looks in one location. You won’t have to switch locations or build sets from scratch if you want to achieve multiple aesthetics in a single session.
You can expect access to professional lighting and equipment, too. Think of lighting gear such as Godox strobes, RGB video lighting, and other tools as part of the rental. This significantly reduces setup costs and saves you from having to bring your own gear.
Just note that you’ll have to pay in full upon booking, which might be a dealbreaker for some.
Still, we can’t deny that this is an all-in-one creative studio where you have the flexibility to go for different shoots without much hassle with logistics.
Very easy for them to accommodate me
“This is an amazing studio. Very professional & the aesthetic is amazing. It was very easy for them to accommodate me and they were very helpful. I know a lot of studios in Charlotte but I honestly don’t see myself ever going anywhere else. They made us feel comfortable and confident as well as the the photographers being extremely talented.”

We could create an assortment of pictures
“We had to change locations in a very short period of time and Corey Reaves made it possible for us to use their studio. They had the space sanitized and so well organized! The ambiance was well set and we could create an assortment of pictures with many props to use!! They are well prepared to assist other photographers and their clients. They were a true blessing in disguise. Thank you immensely”

2. Moving Mountains Studios

Address: 1111 Central Ave STE 200,
Phone: +1 704-745-2515
Business hours: Monday to Friday: 10 AM – 6 PM
Right off the bat, we noticed that Moving Mountains Studios has a knack for wedding photography and cinematic storytelling. This makes them a good choice if you’re after something narrative-driven and expressive.
Their team is even willing to travel nationally and internationally for destination weddings or shoots, which we think is a nice touch.
We also like that you can book them for videography, editing, albums, prints, and wall art as part of the experience.
And it’s great that there’s more to them than just wedding shoots. They offer portraits, branding, corporate shoots, and even product photography—a good mix of personal and commercial services.
The catch? Their services can get pricey pretty quickly, even when it’s just because of small add-ons.
Nonetheless, props to them for maintaining and creating a comfortable studio space with good lighting and a welcoming atmosphere. The clients we chatted with shared how the studio itself helped them have a better experience.
Very easy to work with
“We have had several family photo sessions with MM over the years and they have all been stunning. Very easy to work with and very clear and honest communication. This company captures your most important moments and they become center pieces in your home that you will enjoy!”

The process was fast and very comfortable
“We had our engagement photos done at their studio. The process was fast and very comfortable. After the photo shoot, it only took about ten minutes until we were able to review the photos and pick our favorites. They turned out amazing! Once we picked our favorites, they submitted them for editing and we should have them to us within a week. It was a really easy, stress free process.”

3. Designs By JK Photography L.L.C.

Address: 4109 Stuart Andrew Blvd
Phone: +1 704-451-3878
Business hours: Monday to Sunday: 8 AM – 7 PM
Designs By JK Photography is big on producing and delivering polished images, especially considering their attention to detail. Their team can build tailored themes and backdrops to match your preferences and what you’re looking for as well.
And their expertise spans across different needs; think weddings, engagements, maternity, family, and events. From what we’ve seen, they’re a great go-to for milestone shoots and celebrations.
The best part? You won’t have to wait long to get your edited images since they can have them ready for you fast, sometimes as soon as the next day. This is a big win if you’re on a tight schedule and need those photos ASAP.
It’s just a bummer that they don’t focus on offering the studio as a rent-only space for other photographers. You won’t have the wide access to lighting and photography equipment.
On a positive note, many clients shared that the studio was warm and welcoming, which made them feel more confident, especially for those who were camera-shy.
The edits and final results turned out incredible
“I had an amazing experience with JK Designs! I needed a last-minute birthday photoshoot, and he came through without hesitation. Not only was he able to fit me in on short notice, but the edits and final results turned out incredible—better than I imagined. He was also kind enough to squeeze in a shoot for my mom, which meant a lot to us. The professionalism, flexibility, and quality of work were all top-tier. I will definitely be returning for future shoots. Highly recommend!”

4. LaLa Photography NC

Address: 4205 Stuart Andrew Blvd ste g
Phone: +1 980-428-9939
Business hours: Thursday to Monday: 10 AM – 6 PM
If you’re looking for something a bit more affordable than others, then LaLa Photography NC is a good place to start. Some sessions can start as low as around $59 to $99, with multiple package options depending on the times and images included.
One of the things we like about their studio is how family- and child-friendly it is. We find it pleasant that their photographers are patient and engaging with kids and families, making the entire session less stressful.
As for the studio itself, we’re glad that it includes pre-designed sets and themed backdrops, particularly for babies and seasonal shoots.
The downside? They don’t offer the studio itself up for rent since it’s mainly used for their own shoots. So, you’ll have to look elsewhere if you’re only after space.
Here’s the silver lining: you can get the photos in no time; some clients even said that they received the edited images within a day.
Created a calm, safe environment
“Absolutely amazing experience! The LALA team was patient, gentle, and incredibly skilled with our newborn. They created a calm, safe environment and captured the sweetest, candid moments. Communication was prompt, the props and setups were beautiful, and the photos we got back exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend them for anyone wanting professional, heartfelt newborn photos.”

They’re so patient, kind, and make every session such a joyful experience. The photos always turn out beautifully, and their quick turnaround is just the cherry on top. 5. Charlotte Vibe Photography

Address: 4109 Stuart Andrew Blvd F
Phone: +1 704-644-3853
Business hours: Monday to Saturday: 9 AM – 5 PM
We’re impressed by Charlotte Vibe Photography’s studio rental, especially since it’s well-equipped. Walking into the studio, you can immediately notice the high ceilings, a cyc wall, multiple backdrops, lighting equipment, and even a dressing/makeup area.
Speaking of lighting, it’s included in the rental cost, alongside basic gear. It also means you get to save on additional equipment—a lifesaver for photographers who don’t have their full setups.
Quick heads-up, though: studio add-ons like certain props, background colors, or other services can feel pricey. It’s a good idea to discuss costs and add-ons before starting to avoid sudden charges.
On the bright side, we love that the studio is spacious and can easily accommodate larger productions, including props or even access.
Lastly, for those who want to book both the photographer and studio, we like that they cover everything from corporate headshots and family portraits to wedding portraits and commercial work.
Provided excellent service
“Chris Jenkins of Charlotte Vibe Photo provided excellent service during a shoot I had with him in February. He’s the ultimate professional and does quality work while making the environment very comfortable. I’d suggest him to anyone around Charlotte that wants headshots or any photo shoot of their choice”
Gabriel McDonald, Google Review
Easy to work with
“Thoroughly enjoyed the rental of studio space to film a recent video project. Chris was so easy to work with and allowed me to make myself at home while I worked. Would definitely recommend and do it again!”
